What had been in the offing has now been confirmed: Dino Toppmöller’s short tenure in Lens is already over. The French first division club announced the “amicable end of the cooperation” on Tuesday evening. The 45-year-old had only signed a two-year contract in mid-June. Sporting reasons are said not to have led to the separation. Rather, Toppmöller’s long-time assistant coach Nelson Morgado is said to have been offended at the club, Lens wanted to send the 39-year-old out the door. Toppmöller apparently did not put up with this interference in his interests – and must now also leave out of loyalty to his assistant.
