Who are the 2024 Olympics tennis favorites
Who will win the gold medal in the Olympic tennis tournament?
In May, Roland Garros – where the Olympic 2024 tennis tournament is now being played – hosted the annual Grand Slam tournament. If you take the results at that time as a reference, the following are the favorites for the medal hunt.
Carlos Alcaraz won the French Open in the men’s singles. The Spaniard defeated Alexander Zverev in five sets. Jannik Sinner and Caspar Ruud were also in the semi-finals.
After Sinner had to withdraw due to illness, this trio of Alcaraz, Zverev and Ruud are among the medal candidates in the online bookmakers’ Tennis Olympia 2024.
There is also Novak Djokovic, who had to withdraw from the French Open before his quarter-final due to injury. However, the Serbian former champion has already triumphed three times at the Grand Slam event in the Parisian sandcastle.
And then there is a certain Rafael Nadal, the tennis king of Paris. He has won the Roland Garros Grand Slam tournament a total of 14 times in his career!
However, at 38 years of age, Rafa is a little past his peak – can he now be crowned Olympic champion in his “living room”? In any case, he has two chances – he also competes with Alcaraz in the doubles…
The starting position for the women’s singles is that Iga Swiatek is the big gold favorite. The world number one won Roland Garros in the spring – it was her fourth Paris triumph in total, the third in a row. The Pole has not been beaten at Roland Garros since 2022!
Who else could be among the medal contenders in the women’s singles alongside Swiatek?
Before the start of the tournament, the US starlet Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan and the Italian Jasmine Paolini, who reached the French Open final in the spring, are among the frontrunners in the Olympia 2024 tennis betting odds.
17-year-old Mirra Andreeva can also count herself in with a good chance of precious metal.
Andreeva sensationally stormed through to the semi-finals at the French Open 2024. She could therefore also be a medal tip for the 2024 Olympic tennis tournament
TV coverage of the 2024 Olympics
In Germany, the broadcast of the 2024 Summer Olympics is regulated as follows: The main rights are held by Warner Bros. Discovery, accordingly Eurosport will broadcast everything possible on free TV – including tennis.
However, the public broadcasters ARD and ZDF have acquired sub-licenses and will therefore also be responsible for tennis coverage at the 2024 Olympics – and the focus here is primarily on matches with German participation.
ARD and ZDF will not only broadcast the 2024 Olympics tennis on free-to-air TV, but also via livestream in the respective media libraries
