World Cup Qualifiers, Wednesday, 11.09.2024 at 02:30 PM
An interesting match between Paraguay and Brazil will take place on the South American continent next Wednesday
According to my Paraguay Brazil betting tip, the “Selecao” should be able to live up to their role as favorites. However, I also expect Rodrygo to score first, as he did against Ecuador.
Paraguay have made a solid start to a new era under Gustavo Alfaro and have finally ended their three-match losing streak.
The goalless draw against Uruguay a few days ago, in Luis Suárez’s farewell game, can be seen as a respectable success.
But, as you know yourselves, in order to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, more is needed in the long term.
With just one win from seven games so far in this qualifying round, “La Albirroja” are currently stuck in the bottom half of the table (3 draws, 3 defeats).
It is therefore clear that a strong final spurt is needed if Paraguay really want to make it to the final round of the World Cup
Since their last appearance at a World Cup in 2010, Paraguay have been striving to return to the big stage.
Of course, this will not be an easy task, especially not against “the Seleção”, even if coach Gustavo Alfaro has proven several times in the past that he can challenge strong teams like Brazil.
Watch out: In his coaching career so far, Alfaro has drawn three times in a row against the five-time world champions – and that as national coach of Ecuador and Costa Rica.
It will be interesting to see if Paraguay can actually pick up more than a point on Wednesday, especially as they have not beaten Brazil inside 90 minutes since a home game in 2008 (5 draws, 5 defeats).
Now we come to the favorites: Brazil have bounced back after a turbulent period in this qualifying round.
After four games without a win (one draw, three defeats), the Seleção finally got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Ecuador to get this international break off to a strong start.
This was the fourth win in total under new coach Dorival Júnior, and another success here would mark the start of the first small winning streak under his leadership.
Anything less would also be a disappointment, especially as Brazil’s strong attack has scored ten goals in the last three head-to-head matches against Paraguay alone
Another defeat in this qualifying round would also be unacceptable for the Brazilians because they have already lost more games (3) than in any other World Cup qualifying round since 2002.
What is particularly worrying for the “Seleção” is that they have suffered two of these defeats during their last two away games in CONMEBOL qualifying.
That’s a stark fact! Brazil, who had previously gone 18 consecutive away games unbeaten (11 wins, 7 draws), are not used to suffering setbacks in South American stadiums.
However, this poor record doesn’t put me off any more than the bookmakers, who also have the Brazilians as favorites.
The bookmakers have rated Brazil as the clear favorites in the duel against Paraguay. With odds of 1.57, the probability of a win for the “Seleção” is around 64%. This is no surprise when you consider the Brazilians’ offensive strength.
The odds for a three-goal win for the home side, on the other hand, are 6.75, which corresponds to a probability of around 15%.
The Paraguay Brazil betting odds thus clearly reflect the fact that “La Albirroja” go into this match as underdogs, even if anything is possible in soccer, as we all know!

A promising tip would be to bet on Rodrygo as the first goalscorer.
Why? The Real Madrid star has scored the first goal in five of his last six appearances for club and country.
The odds for the 1:0 against Paraguay are currently at a tempting 5.75. So if you also have the feeling that Rodrygo will strike early again this time, this could be a good option for you
Another interesting approach is a bet on at least three Brazilian goals. “After all, the Seleção have scored four or more goals in five of their last eight qualifying victories.
If you think the five-time world champions will be in a scoring mood again, a bet on “BRA over 2.5 goals” at odds of 3.50 could be just the thing for you.
Of course, a lot depends on how strong Paraguay will be
My Paraguay Brazil prediction: Rodrygo scores the 1:0. Yes, it’s a risk, but the odds are extremely tempting.
The Real Madrid star has scored the first goal in five of his last six appearances for club and country – an impressive run that justifies the risk.
Brazil, meanwhile, have stabilized under new coach Dorival Júnior and could finally deliver their first truly convincing game on Wednesday.
With their offensive strength, the “Seleção” are absolutely capable of winning this game in style
My tip: Rodrygo scores 1st goal
