Rapid Vienna – Trabzonspor betting tip, prediction & odds 15.08.2024

Europa League, Thursday, 15.08.2024 at 18:00

It should be a successful season for Rapid Vienna, and not just at national level! The Austrians want to make a splash in the Europa League, but first have to fight their way through several rounds of qualifying.

One has already been completed, with the second leg against Trabzonspor coming up this week. Things look good at first, as the Viennese go into the match with a 1-0 lead. A narrow lead that can quickly be squandered.

The team has made a very solid impression so far, as if hardly anything could rattle them. The visitors from Turkey of course know that they not only have to break down the defense, but also need two goals in the best case scenario

And lo and behold: the bookmakers are also putting their faith in Rapid! Why is that, even though the lead is so minimal? What makes the Viennese so strong right now and why Trabzonspor are doubting themselves?

I’ll get to the bottom of these many questions in my Rapid Vienna Trabzonspor betting tip. I don’t think the neutral soccer fan will really enjoy the game, but rather bet on a rather low-scoring affair!

The bookmakers’ forecast

Rapid Vienna only have to defend a lead on Thursday, it sounds so simple! However, the bookmakers already enjoy the trust of our bookmakers, with odds of 1.95 for a win.

The visitors MUST win, which increases the pressure. Trabzonspor are the underdogs without any ifs and buts, but if they win you could secure odds of 3.30.

Of course, the odds on the Austrians to progress are also interesting, as they are 1.20 to 4.40 in front. The draw, on the other hand, which would be enough for this, brings you odds of 3.70.

Analysis: Rapid Vienna vs Trabzonspor

The longing for titles is great at Rapid Vienna. At home, they have Red Bull Salzburg (and most recently Sturm Graz) as almost unassailable competition for the championship, while their performances in Europe have also been more than mixed.

Is 2024/25 the season in which everything will change for the better? In the Bundesliga, they won 1:0 against champions Sturm Graz, which was not necessarily to be expected

It only took a few days, however, for the first result to cause dissatisfaction. A 1:1 draw against Austria Klagenfurt – the fans had hoped for a little more.

However, the season started a little earlier, as Rapid are currently in the Europa League qualifiers. The 2nd round started against Wisla Krakow, and HOW it started! There was certainly no boredom here.

The Rapid team won narrowly 2:1 away from home and were all the more determined for the second leg. The home advantage helped them to a brilliant 6:1, which is exactly why I had expected a few goals in the first game against Trabzonspor. In the end it stayed at one goal

Odds analysis

In fact, I’m going to go out on a limb with the 1×2 bets and say: Rapid will win a second time! The team looks incredibly stable, and with their own fans behind them, another win could well be possible.

Of course, the Viennese have the advantage of being able to wait and see what Trabzonspor do. Since I don’t think the Turks are that strong offensively, I recommend the bet of 0:0 after the first 45 minutes, which has great odds of 3.30 at Betano – Betano betting bonus included!

At the same time, there is of course the risk of a result bet. A win for the Austrians with not quite as many goals? I go the same way as in the first leg, duplicate the result and say: At odds of 9.50, a 1:0 makes sense

Rapid Vienna not under pressure

In Trabzon, the visitors played a good game with 19:9 shots on goal, so it didn’t bother anyone that possession was in their opponents’ favor.

Lukas Grgic scored after just over an hour to make it 1:0, and this result was then defended passionately. The team may not yet have one foot in the play-offs, but the lead can of course be worth its weight in gold.

But beware: It was almost exactly a year ago that they won 1-0 at home against Fiorentina in the final qualifying round of the Conference League, but narrowly lost 2-0 away a week later.

Can Trabzonspor turn it on after all?

The current situation is of course more favorable ahead of the home game, but it’s not over yet. How is the fitness of keeper Niklas Hedl? He was recently replaced by Paul Gartler in the 1-1 draw at Austria Klagenfurt. On Thursday against Trabzonspor, however, the Green-Whites’ regular goalkeeper will be back in contention.

From Trabzonspor’s point of view, it will probably take more than just an injured goalkeeper to make up for the deficit. More has to be done going forward, the superiority in play alone did not help much in the first leg

The 0:1 was actually a result that somehow fitted perfectly into this still young season. The Turks did anything but set off fireworks against Ruzomberok in the 2nd qualifying round.

2:0 and 1:0, they advanced to the next round with efficient, defensive performances. And then there’s the start of the Süper Lig, where Trabzonspor kicked off against Sivasspor a few days ago

“Getting started” actually implies a lively performance. But that was not the case in the end, as the game ended with a tired 0-0 draw. 2:0, 1:0, 0:1 and 0:0, the four games so far this season have been anything but characterized by many goals.

Even a BTS would never have been right. How is the team now dealing with the 1-0 deficit? In 2015/16, there was already a defeat like this in the first leg, and the 1:1 in the second leg against Skopje couldn’t change the outcome

My tip:

Rapid Vienna are on the verge of reaching the Europa League play-offs! The Austrians have made a great start to the new season, haven’t lost yet and took a 1-0 win away from Turkey.

On the other side, we have Trabzonspor, a team that has been rather conspicuous defensively so far. They haven’t scored many goals, and the representative from the Süper Lig also found it very difficult against Ruzomberok.

Since I see the Rapid team defending well and at the same time they don’t necessarily have to score to progress, I have decided to bet rather cautiously and suggest the following tip:

The 3.5 goals will not be exceeded!
