Dawn of the gods in the city of Mozart? After more than a decade of unbroken soccer domination in the Alpine republic, RBS may be facing permanent relegation starting with the 2024/25 season.
Meanwhile, my detailed Red Bull Salzburg Twente betting tip looks at the Austrian side’s chances of successfully qualifying for the play-off phase of the top flight under their new manager.

Replacing Strahinja Pavlovic will not be easy. The strong Serbian defender completed his move to AC Milan a few days ago, leaving a big gap in Salzburg’s defense.
Although Baidoo and Blank tried to fill this gap together in the Bundesliga opener at the weekend, the Mozartstädter’s new central defensive duo only made a good impression in phases in the 3:2 win over Grazer AK.
Pep Lijnders is the new coach of Salzburg, who is taking up his first ever head coach position. Nevertheless, he has prepared the offense for the new season in the best possible way with the options available to him.
Nevertheless, a few improvements to the defense and one or two potential new additions, such as Bobby Clark, will still be necessary in order to be able to play a bigger role in international business in 2024/25
Twente’s qualification for this competition comes as something of a surprise, as the Dutch side have been absent from the top flight for over a decade.
However, their 3rd place in the Eredivisie in the previous season and the planned expansion of the top flight make it at least possible for Enschede to make it into one of the coveted draw pots again.
Unlike the Austrian top flight, the new 2023/24 Eredivisie season has not yet begun.
Nevertheless, the visitors can at least claim to have completed their preparations without any sporting setbacks (1 win, 4 draws)
Analysis of odds
For this third-round qualifying first leg, you should consider the following three betting suggestions!
A simple win bet on RB Salzburg could already be sufficient, as the odds are promising and the hosts are in a strong position overall under their new coach.
In addition, a bet on over 2.5 goals at odds of around 1.65 is also likely to be worthwhile, as Salzburg’s offense will once again show its quality.
Finally, another sensible option is that both teams will score at least one goal, as Twente could benefit from one or two mistakes by the not yet perfectly coordinated Austrian defense.
Salzburg + Eredivisie = lots of goals
Salzburg’s attacking power should be big enough to overcome this hurdle successfully. But their defense, which is not yet well-rehearsed, is not the only reason why I trust in a high-scoring Red Bull Salzburg Twente betting tip.
The statistics also provide some interesting clues, which is why you should definitely put this betting intention into practice.
Watch out: In 6 of the last 7 European Cup duels between Salzburg and a Dutch club that did not end in a draw, the winning team alone scored at least three goals!
RBS: Karim Kanote scores a goal!
It’s hard for RBS fans not to get attached to Karim Konaté these days. After all, the important cog in the Mozartstädter’s offense also scored important goals against the cheeky promoted team from Graz at the weekend.
What’s more, with 12 goals in his last eight appearances, he is also my first port of call for a goalscorer bet on Tuesday, which currently promises odds of around 1.75 at various bookmakers.

Twente have not only stayed away from the top flight for a long time, but have also only sporadically participated in the other two international club competitions.
They clearly lack experience at this level and the fact that they have only won one of their last seven European Cup away games does not exactly speak for their resilience at foreign venues.
Especially as their only away win in the last decade was at Serbian first division side Cukaricki (3:1) and not when visiting a club of Salzburg’s caliber.
RBS coach Lijnders will be hoping to continue his perfect start in Austria on Tuesday by extending Salzburg’s unbeaten run in the third round of Champions League qualifying to seven games in a row (4 wins, 2 draws).
That seems quite realistic, as the last time the team from Mozartstadt lost in this competition was away to Malmö in the 2015/16 season.
They have also never lost a home game at this stage of qualifying (4 wins, 2 draws)
My tip:
Salzburg have hired what I consider to be a first-class coach, who has prepared the team perfectly for the new season according to the possibilities.
Against this background, RBS’ odds of around 1.70 to win against such an inexperienced international opponent can be seen as a generous offer.
However, I would definitely want to add an over-2.5-goal bet here, as the team from Mozartstadt has a lot of offensive momentum, but does not yet have a solid defense.
