Both teams have already undergone some interesting developments this season that should make you sit up and take notice.
Let’s start with Stade de Reims: Luka Elsner’s boys got off to a bumpy start, but have managed to score decent points in their last three games.
With seven points from three games, they have moved up to sixth place in Ligue 1 for the time being. But what is striking is that Reims simply cannot manage to get a game over the line without conceding a goal.
When we then look at Paris Saint-Germain, we see the usual dominance. Luis Enrique’s young side are still unbeaten after four games, having scored a whopping 16 goals and conceded just three.
That’s quite something! And although the Parisians only just lived up to their role as firm favourites in their 1:0 nail-biting win over Girona during the week, their progress so far this season shows that they are still fully on course to at least defend their Ligue 1 title.
But watch out, you know soccer always surprises us! Even if PSG seem superior on paper, they have dropped points in three of their last four matches against Reims.
These conspicuous missteps over the last few years could give Reims courage. But if they concede the first goal again – which has been the case in each of these games so far – then it will be difficult to get anything against the Parisians’ attack.
The last comparison with the supposed underdogs? A meagre 2:2 from PSG’s point of view in March this year, which didn’t stop the capitals from winning the championship, but can be seen as a further indication of Reims’ recalcitrance.
If you want to bet on the match between Reims and Paris Saint-Germain, there are a few interesting scenarios that catch the eye.
While I’m by no means convinced of a dismantling of the hosts, looking at the Reims PSG odds and stats, I have to highlight a few trends that will appeal to PSG fans.
First of all, in the Parisians’ last eight games, at least one goal has always been scored in the first half. Therefore, a bet on “Over 0.5 goals in the first half” makes sense, even if the corresponding odds are not particularly generous at an average of 1.30.
PSG have also always scored the first goal in their last five away games. A good bet on the Betano app would therefore be to back “PSG to score 1:0”. With odds of at least 1.40, this is at least a slightly more attractive offer.
Another exciting scenario concerns the expected number of goals. PSG have always scored at least three goals in their last five matches. Those expecting an attacking game can bet on “Over 2.5 goals”.
The odds for this are around 1.53 – depending on which bookmaker you place your trust in.
As you can see, there are some really strong options here for betting on the game:
A look at Reims’ injury list could help you to further optimize your bets. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look good for the home team, as four key players could be missing.
Among the absentees are Gabriel Moscardo, who is on loan from PSG, and Sergio Akieme, who has already scored. Abdoul Kone and Mohammed Daramy are also missing, which certainly doesn’t make the task ahead any easier.
Paris Saint-Germain also have a few absentees to keep in mind when betting. Marco Asensio had to come off injured in the Champions League game and could miss the weekend – a bitter pill to swallow for PSG.
Presnel Kimpembe, Lucas Hernandez and Goncalo Ramos are also missing through injury. Gianluigi Donnarumma is also still a big question mark as to whether he will be fit in time.
Despite these absences, PSG still have plenty of power in attack: Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé will probably play from the start and support Randal Kolo Muani in attack.
Conclusion: Although Paris Saint-Germain’s current form speaks a different language, I expect Reims to cause them problems. My Reims PSG prediction therefore points to a very tight game.
PSG may be on an impressive run, but Reims have managed to pick up points in three of their last four encounters. The Parisians, who were also in action during the week, are also missing a number of key players.
