Romania – Ukraine: Date, TV broadcast & bookmaker prediction at a glance
All info on the Euro 2024 match between Romania and Ukraine
We’re counting down the days until the ball finally rolls! The 2024 European Championship, which will be held in ten different German stadiums, is just around the corner and the national teams are about to start their preparations.
And while there are a number of teams that are counted among the favorites, there are of course also teams that are less likely to win
When is Romania v Ukraine taking place?
Belgium are the big favorites in Group E, followed by Ukraine, Romania and Slovakia, three clubs who all want to reach the last 16 of the European Championship. Ukraine start the tournament with a match against Romania.
The game will be played on June 17, when kick-off is at 3 p.m. in Munich’s Allianz Arena, spectators can look forward to an interesting afternoon
Who will be broadcasting the match live on TV?
You’ve probably already heard the reviews about the TV broadcast. If you want to watch everything live and in color from Germany, ZDF and ARD are no longer enough.
Of course, a number of matches will be broadcast here, but the two channels have only been awarded the contract for 34 of the 51 matches in total. If you really want to watch all the matches, you have to have MagentaTV.
But that’s not all, as RTL has also secured a sub-license for 14 matches. In Austria, ORF is no longer alone in the boat, as it only has one “guest”, ServusTV, which is also responsible for broadcasting.
You would have to be resident in Switzerland to be able to say: It’s all very easy, only one TV company takes care of everything here. No sooner said than done, every minute of the match is available exclusively on SRG.
Romania – Ukraine: Where will the game be played?
The venue for the match between Romania and Ukraine is used to hosting big names, as the kick-off will take place in Munich’s Allianz Arena.
The Isar is not only the venue for this match, but also for the opening game between Germany and Scotland. And since FC Bayern’s little jewel box looks quite inviting, that’s not all.
The Allianz Arena will host a total of four group matches, plus a round of 16 and a semi-final. Will Germany even come here a second time – or is the European Championship semi-final just a dream?
These European Championship matches will take place in Munich:
How far is it going for Romania?
The Romanian national team has taken part in a European Championship every eight years since 2000. So if they have to watch once, they know: They’ll be back next time! Incidentally, 2000 was also the year in which they sensationally reached the quarter-finals.
Since then, they have never made it past the group stage. Did the most recent qualification give you hope? Absolutely, as they not only beat Switzerland, but also Israel, Belarus, Kosovo and Andorra.
The Romanians only conceded five goals, which sounds like a stable defense. And this year? 1:1 against Northern Ireland and 2:3 against Colombia, successful results have not yet been achieved here.
Ukraine: Number 2 in Group E?
Ukraine, on the other hand, are more familiar with European Championships. They have always been involved in three tournaments, and the quarter-finals in 2021 are considered one of their greatest successes on the big stage.
Although qualification for this tournament was only achieved in an extra session, those who ended up behind England on equal points with Italy needn’t fret. With eight goals conceded in eight group games, it is clear that they were by no means defeated by the two top nations.
The play-off matches then took place in March of this year. Ukraine won 2:1 against both Bosnia and Iceland, proving their nerves of steel twice
Direct comparison Romania – Ukraine
Romania and Ukraine have played each other six times so far, but the direct comparison is still not really meaningful. Because: We are looking for competitive matches in vain!
The six matches took place between 2001 and 2016, so the most recent was eight years ago. Romania won three times, Ukraine three times, sometimes there were hardly any goals, then again at least five in each match.
EM Betting: Prediction for Romania – Ukraine
Admittedly, the match between Romania and Ukraine doesn’t necessarily sound like an absolute treat at first glance. Does that automatically mean we’re in for more of a combative affair in midfield?
In any case, there is one favorite among our European Championship betting providers – and it is playing in blue and yellow. Ukraine is ahead, with average odds of 2.15.
On the other hand, the Romanians will have to live with being the underdogs. How is this reflected in the odds? The values don’t really shoot up, but an average of 3.10 can be expected
Of course, Ukraine’s players have much more experience, which is often an advantage in a major tournament. What’s more, they both know that the first match could be the decider.
At the same time, however, this could also ensure that both teams don’t want to make too many mistakes and therefore take few risks. In other words: play for a draw!
That wouldn’t really benefit anyone, but of course it can’t be ruled out. If the points are actually shared, you can secure odds of around 3.40.
Romania vs. Ukraine: What do the bookmakers expect?
In addition to the 1×2 bets, there are of course several other ways to place your bets profitably. To be honest, I can’t imagine that Romania and Ukraine will get off to a flying start.
What exactly does that mean for the match? Presumably both teams just don’t want to make the first mistake, the fear of being out straight away if they lose is too great. I would therefore advise betting on a 0:0 at half-time. The odds for this are 2.50 at NEObet
At the same time, I can’t imagine that we’re dealing with a shoot-out, and that’s apparently also how our betting providers see the situation. The automatic result: Under 2.5 goals at odds of 1.60!
Since my result tip is for a 1:1, my first betting recommendation is that something has to happen in the second half. It may not be a wild back and forth here either, but goals are a must.
“Both teams score” automatically comes to mind here, but only in the second 45 minutes. If this is the case, we will be offered high odds of 4.00 at Bet365
