As the “WAZ” reports, third-division club Rot-Weiss Essen is said to be dealing with the signing of the clubless ex-Schalke player Paul Pöpperl. RWE is looking for reinforcements in the centre of midfield due to several injuries – but Pöpperl could not yet represent them. Because the 23-year-old is suffering from the consequences of a cruciate ligament rupture from February and would probably be more of an option for the second half of the season. It is possible that Essen will therefore continue to keep its eyes open for alternatives. Most recently, the signing of Florian Engelhardt (23) had already been shattered due to injury, although the test player had convinced.
