Schalke summer schedule 2026: When does pre-season begin?
For FC Schalke 04, the mission to stay in the league after the second division championship and the associated promotion to the Bundesliga begins on 3 and 4 July with performance diagnostics and thus during the 2026 World Cup.
The official start of training for the Royal Blues was chosen for 5 July. On this day, coach Miron Muslic will welcome his squad for the first time.
The World Cup participants will not yet be there. These will only join in the course of the preparation.
All Schalke Summer Test Matches 2026
How many Schalke friendlies are scheduled in the summer pre-season for the 2026/27 season? The S04 summer schedule so far includes four test matches. This means that the list is not as extensive as on the FC Bayern summer schedule. The number of BVB friendlies is also longer.
The first match of the Schalke test matches will take place on July 11 in Gütersloh. The game against FC Gütersloh starts at 14:00.
Eight days later, the second test match is scheduled for the miners. This will take place in Aue. Kick-off for the duel against Erzgebirge is again at 14:00.
Immediately afterwards, the S04 entourage will make their way to Austria for the training camp. This year, FC Schalke 04 will pitch its tents in Neustift in the Stubai Valley.
From 20 to 26 July, coach Miron Muslic will use the intensive time to prepare his squad in the best possible way for the goal of staying up. A form review has already been scheduled – against Metallist Kharkiv on July 22.
The next already fixed form test of Royal Blue will take place on Sunday, August 1 (14:00 CEST) at Hessen Kassel.

When is the Schalke season opener?
The next important date in the Schalke summer schedule 2026 is the official Schalke 04 season opener, which will take place a week later. At the “Schalke-Tach” on 8 August, fans can expect a colourful supporting programme, which starts at 11:04 a.m.
The highlight of Schalke’s season opener is a friendly against Atalanta Bergamo. Kick-off at the Veltins-Arena is at 17:00.
For the Royal Blues, the endurance test against the seventh-placed team in the past Serie A season is the fourth and final pre-season game in the S04 summer schedule 2026. Whether there will be more matches is currently still open.

The first competitive match is the match in the 1st round of the DFB Cup. The Royal Blues will be away to Hallescher FC on 24 August at 20:45 CET.
A few days later, the 1st matchday in the Bundesliga follows. FC Schalke 04 will travel away to FC Augsburg.
