Tennis tips today – Matches today from 02.08.

The ATP calendar is now picking up the pace again! My tennis tips today, the most interesting main round duels of the Canadian Open in Montreal before the US Open starts soon.

Betting providers with cashout have increased their odds to the First-round matches in Montreal have been improved once again. Total I picked out six of them – including the one recently published in Wimbledon.

Tennis Tips Today – 02.08.2026 Preview of Montreal

The Canadian Open is divided into two tournaments. The gentlemen wear ATP tournament in Montreal, while the women won the WTA version of this competition in Vancouver.

The focus is on all the big names that will also be available at the the US Open. But I trust some of them also a surprising first-round exit – but more on that in a moment!

Montreal Tips today 02.08.: Berrettini – Navone (18:30)

This duel has a damn hot history. The two are in agreement only in April in Cagliari on sand – and there Berrettini read the Argentine the Levites in two sentences.

Navone has really enjoyed the Italian’s powerful serves and simply couldn’t find a gap in the game.

Of course, that’s exactly what Navone is now thinking about. When Berrettini Montreal again unpacks his whipping forehand and sets the tone, the Argentine has to work extremely far behind the baseline.

Although the Italian has not had a chance since Wimbledon due to minor injuries, tournament, but Navone has had some avoidable defeats against those ranked lower in the world rankings opponents – for example in Kitzbühel and Bastad.

On the faster surface, Berrettini has the bottom line that better cards and the psychological advantage from the last meeting in the back.

My tip: Berrettini’s hard forehand decides the game!

Montreal Tips today 03.08.: Baez – Bellucci (16:00)

Baez is a born digger from the baseline. The Argentine brings has an insane physique, doesn’t give up a ball and wears down his opponents with infinitely long rallies and a lot of spin.

On the fast US hard courts, however, he has the problem from time to time that he simply lacks penetration against real power players.

This is exactly where Bellucci wants to start. The young Italian plays an extremely cheeky, aggressive left-handed tennis. With his whipping forehand and a lot of twist he brings in changes of direction, which Báez comfort zone.

In short: If Bellucci keeps his quota high on the first serve, he has good chances to make the South American sweat a lot.

My tip: Bellucci could become a stumbling block!

Montreal Tips today 03.08.: JM Cerundolo – Medjedovic (16:00)

The younger Cerundolo brother Juan Manuel calls on Hamad Medjedovic to be appointed revenge dance, while his brother Francisco is certainly still excessively about the recent quarter-final exit in Los Cabos!

Already at Roland Garros 2025, the two were on ashes – at that time, Medjedovic narrowly retained the lead after a tough four-set fight Upper hand.

But on the fast hard courts in Canada, the dynamics are shifting once again tremendous: Medjedovic can make his cracking serves and forehand shots, while JM Cerundolo as a hard-hitting left-handed defender has to work extremely hard.

If the Argentine doesn’t immediately hit the ground with his poisonous spin slices, When the Serbian’s rhythm breaks, Medjedovic simply marches over it. The Rubber plays mightily into the hands of Serbian power tennis anyway.

Especially since Medjedovic had already won a Hard court tournament in spring in Rotterdam at least until the round of 16 only to lose narrowly to Auger-Aliassime.

My tip: Medjedovic’s serve dictates the action!

Montreal Tips today 03/08: Carreno Busta – Royer (16:00)

After his injury worries, the Spaniard is building up his game again extremely precise transition game and iron discipline on the baseline. He distributes the balls so cleverly that the opponent is constantly under pressure. without Carreno Busta having to take excessive risks.

Valentin Royer, on the other hand, stands for the new wave. The Frenchman brings a lot momentum from the Challenger events, marches boldly forward and is fully relying on its offensive potential.

On faster surfaces, Royer can be extremely dangerous with his power but still tends to lose the thread in tight phases when the opponent stoically shovels the balls back.

This is exactly the crux of the matter: If Carreno Busta gives the Frenchman a long time rallies, Royer quickly falls into the patience trap and starts . The Spaniard’s ripped-off game controls should be enforce.

My tip: Carreno Busta a bit better when it comes to the rally goes!

Montreal Tips today 03.08.: Michelsen – Struff (16:00)

For Struff, this is a revenge with a history: In April, Michelsen literally swept the Warsteiner off the pitch in Madrid with 6-2, 6-1.

At the age of 21, Michelsen brings the perfect mix of cool passing game and ice-cold return – exactly the poison that Struff’s “serve-and-volley” urge completely derails.

In addition, there is the form curve: While Struff has recently made a good start on clay Michelsen has just won a top 10 man in Washington. Taylor Fritz forced into the tiebreak of the third set.

On the fast hard court, however, Struff gets more again Comp points over his service and in Wimbledon his irrepressible Will anyway very pleased! With a generous win rate of about 3.30 I would therefore prefer to stick to the German here!

My tip: Struff surpasses itself!

Montreal Tips today 03.08.: Merida – Draxl (16:00)

Merida arrives with a lot of tailwind: After his ATP title in Umag and a strong run at Challenger level, the 21-year-old has proven his way up to stalked the top 60.

His game thrives on a clean, extremely spin-loaded forehand, with which he dictates the pace and wears down opponents on the baseline.

Draxl, on the other hand, is the classic US college worker who doesn’t have a ball lost. He brings an extreme amount of physique and footwork, rinses defensively and tries to score through tough rallies in the game .

On the faster hardcourt surfaces, the Canadian won against aggressive players, however, are often left behind as soon as the opposing side serves the and narrows the field.

Merida currently simply has the higher basic level and the necessary Penetration to constantly crack Draxl’s defensive bar.

My tip: Merida currently with a lot of momentum!
