What a big surprise! Carlos Alcaraz lost 1-6, 5-7 to Casper Ruud at the start of the finals, not fending off any of his opponent’s four break chances. Last year, he also started with a defeat (against Zverev), but made it to the semi-finals in the end!
Perhaps a positive omen: the second match day brought a smooth victory against Rublev. The Russian is also facing him now and is the underdog with odds of 2.55 to 1.50. He is also under pressure, as his start was a 4-6, 4-6 against Alexander Zverev.

So it may go on for Alexander Zverev! The world No. 2 started the finals with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Andrey Rublev. There should be no defeat now, because in 2023 he was knocked out in the preliminary round with a score of S-N-S. Does Casper Ruud suit him?
Zverev is clearly favored with odds of 1.15 to 5.30. He has a 4:2 lead in the direct comparison and also won the French Open this year.
