NFL 2024/25: Texans – Ravens
Both teams will participate in the NFL playoffs and have to play again on Wednesday just a few days after their last appearance. What could a promising Texans Ravens tip look like?
I tend to expect an entertaining game with lots of touchdowns.
Baltimore may have just won an extremely important game, but for that reason alone I wouldn’t call their pass defense anything other than what it has usually been this season: weak!
The Texans recently suffered a bitter 19-27 loss to the Chiefs. The game was a real rollercoaster ride, but it ended with disappointed faces in Houston.
C. J. Stroud showed unusual weaknesses, threw two disastrous interceptions and got his team into trouble at critical moments. Particularly painful was a failed pass that cost the Texans a potential touchdown before halftime and instead earned the Chiefs three points.
There were also avoidable delay-of-game penalties and an unnecessary sack in the red zone when Stroud failed to get rid of the ball in time.
Houston’s defense didn’t do any better: against an ailing Patrick Mahomes, gaps in the defense were exposed, which the Chiefs quarterback exploited mercilessly despite ankle problems.
How do you think a “Tornado” like Lamar Jackson would use that space in front of him next Wednesday?
The loss of Tank Dell, who suffered a serious knee injury on a spectacular 30-yard touchdown, is even more serious. This scene, so dramatic and emotional for the team, seemed to take the air out of the Texans.
Because after that moment, they only managed three points in the rest of the game. What’s more, the Texans’ trio of receivers, once considered a strength, may now be down to Nico Collins.
All in all, it is clear that the Texans have the potential to open up games, but self-sabotage coupled with bad luck with injuries means they are currently falling short of their potential.

The Ravens, on the other hand, are riding a wave of success. They secured the AFC North crown with their recent win over Pittsburgh, impressing both offensively and defensively.
Derrick Henry was the centerpiece of the offense, rushing for 162 yards and wearing down the Steelers’ defense. He was a decisive figure in the final phase in particular: with fresh legs and targeted tackles, he became a kind of “closer” who made the difference.
But it wasn’t just Henry who impressed. The Ravens’ usually weak defence stepped up in the fourth quarter, not allowing any more points and putting an exclamation mark on the game with Marlon Humphrey’s 37-yard pick-six.
The Ravens’ dominance in defence was also reflected in the presence of players like Kyle Hamilton, who shone with eight tackles, a forced fumble and a pass defense.
There were also strong performances from Michael Pierce and Kyle Van Noy, who contributed important sacks. With this overall package, Baltimore not only made the playoffs, but also made it clear that they are a serious contender for the 2025 Super Bowl.
Beating the Ravens requires a team that has a sensational passing game. Because then it’s easier to expose the many mistakes of the Purple Pain’s pass defense.
In this respect, Pittsburgh was the ideal opponent for Baltimore, because the Steelers play strong defense, but are not exactly inspiring offensively!
The upcoming opponent Houston, on the other hand, is quite capable of conjuring up around 21 points on the board – even if it’s not enough to win in the end.
The Texans have always scored at least 19 points during their last 7 NFL home games – but it’s clear that I expect an even higher output from Baltimore.

In summary, two teams that are currently writing completely different stories clash here. The Texans are struggling with mistakes and injury problems, while the Ravens are looking to the future with a broad chest and a clear plan.
Houston, in my opinion, will actually score around 20 points. But if they have problems with the mobility of the opposing quarterback like they did against Kansas City, Lamar Jackson will make short work of them.
