Union Berlin – FC Bayern Munich betting tip
Last weekend, it was clear as early as 32 years ago that FC Bayern would not become champions. In the course of this turbulent and disappointing season, it also became clear that coach Thomas Tuchel is not a good fit for the Munich side.
However, the club and its coach, whose tenure ends this summer, may yet be able to salvage the season. After Wednesday’s 1-0 home win over Arsenal, FCB are back in the CL semi-finals for the first time since winning the title in 2020.
At the end of April, they will face record winners Real Madrid with former coach Carlo Ancelotti. However, before this clash can take place, the Reds must put a proper end to their dismal second half of the Bundesliga season so far
The best FC Bayern can do in the final sprint is to secure second place. This would also secure them a place in the Super Cup if Bayer Leverkusen also win the DFB Cup after the championship.
With a seven-point lead over fifth place, another ticket to the top flight does not appear to be in danger. However, Munich are only ahead of VfB in the battle for the runners-up spot thanks to their superior goal difference.
So they cannot afford many more slip-ups in the final spurt in the league. On Saturday at Union Berlin, I opt for the bet “Double chance x/2 & Under 3.5 goals” in my Union Berlin Bayern betting tip at Interwetten at odds of 1.85.
The forecast of the betting providers?
Of course, the record champions are still the clear favorites in the Union Berlin vs Bayern prediction. Especially because the Berliners are eleven places and 34 points behind their upcoming opponents.
However, the two clubs are not that far apart in the table for the second half of the season: FCB (19) have only collected four points more than FCU. Nevertheless, the starting position is clear.
For a Munich win, you will only be offered odds of just over 1.60. On the other hand, you can secure five times the stake with a three-pointer for the hosts.

Analysis: Union Berlin vs Bayern
Union’s points average under coach Nenad Bjelica is actually quite respectable at 1.29 points per game. Over the course of a full season, that would mean they would be safe from relegation (44).
However, the Ironmen still have to nibble at the extremely poor start under predecessor Urs Fischer. In February, FCU had created a good cushion against the danger zone with seven points from three games.
However, with just one win from the last seven games, this lead is shrinking all the time. After the 2-0 defeat at Augsburg on the last matchday, they are now just three points off 16th place.
So far, the Croatian coach has not managed to get the offense going. Just eight goals in the 12 games of the second half of the season, together with Darmstadt, are the negative figure
Best scorer is Robin Gosens with six goals. FCA once again lacked ideas, penetration and precision. At the other end, blatant mistakes in defense put their opponents on the road to victory.
The Berlin defence had actually stabilized considerably under the new coach. Only the top six teams in the table have conceded fewer goals than Union (45) this season.
So Bjelica has declared crisis mode. But trouble still looms against Bayern. The Köpenickers have already played the current top five in the table nine times in 2023/24 and have zero points and 2:22 goals.
After all, the team is number one in the top flight in terms of running distance with over 121 kilometers per game. Only the injured Busk will be missing on Saturday. Gosens and Tousart return after their suspensions
Quota analysis
The bookmakers expect more than 2.5 goals in the Union Berlin vs Bayern preview with odds of 1.60. However, I have my doubts about this assessment.
Munich have not conceded a goal in three of their last four matches against Bayern. The Köpenickers also have the second weakest offense in the Bundesliga.
And in eight of the last ten league games between the Berliners, only one team has scored. So a bet like “Both teams to score – No” makes more sense to me.
At Betway you get odds of 2.20 for this, but before you do, you shouldn’t miss out on the Betway betting bonus. The bet “Bayern to win by zero” is only slightly riskier.
Here, however, NEObet offers odds of 3.10. All information about the provider and how it compares to the competition can be found in our detailed NEObet test
The Bavarians are hoping for the Henkelpott
FC Bayern and Thomas Tuchel rightly came in for a lot of criticism in the second half of the season. This made the Munich team and their coach all the more euphoric when they celebrated reaching the CL semi-finals on Wednesday.
And the team showed what it is actually capable of against Arsenal. The coach was also spot on twice with his tactics and line-up against the Gunners.
The record champions were patient, focused and compact in the second leg. FCB were also able to rely on a resolute and stable defense. The home side became more active after the break.
Kimmich’s goal to make it 1:0 saw Bayern finish with aplomb. The club is now one of the four best teams in Europe in 2023/24 and dreams of reaching the final at Wembley
Can Munich turn the corner in the league again?
Now, however, the record champions can focus on more than just the top flight. On the last matchday, Munich won a lackluster but deserved 2:0 at home against Cologne.
Up until the first half of the season, everything was going well in the Bundesliga. Munich were only one point behind Leverkusen. In the second half of the season, however, they suffered an incredible five defeats in 12 games.
Bayern also won only one of their last five away games in the Bundesliga (1U, 3N). The injured Boey, Buchmann, Sarr, Coman and Gnabry will be missing at the Alte Försterei.
After the Champions League game, a few changes are of course possible. Sané is likely to be rested
Bayern are not one of FC Union’s favorite opponents. In the 2020/21 season, the Berliners drew 1-1 in both matches. The same result was achieved in the first leg of the previous season in the capital.
However, this compares to six defeats with a goal difference of 3:17. The first leg of the current season was only lost by the narrowest of margins, 0:1.
My Union Bayern tip:
The Iron must score. In the worst-case scenario, a defeat against the record champions could see two teams pass FC Union at the weekend.
The chances are probably not that bad. After all, Bayern’s full concentration will certainly be on the Champions League in the final spurt. But FCB will be looking to defend second place in the league.
And we think the visitors are capable of at least a point. After all, the successes in the top flight have brought coach Tuchel and the team much closer together again.
Not too many goals are likely to be scored. My Union Berlin Bayern prediction is therefore: DC x/2 & Under 3.5 goals!
