Fans of the yellow felt ball pop the champagne corks and good bookmakers spice up their respective odds boosts for this tournament. Because in Flushing Meadows the US Open officially begins.
I have put together the tennis tips today accordingly from six gripping qualifying matches, in which I bring in my expertise to wring as much value as possible from my tennis bets.
Tennis tips today – 24.08.2026: Qualifying matches in US Open!
On Sunday, some first-round matches at the ATP tournament in Winston-Salem were cancelled or postponed. In my tennis tips today, however, the music only plays on the East Coast, more precisely in New York.
There are a number of qualifying matches that are worth betting on and that have made it into my tennis tips section today. I included the role of a Swiss, a German and an Austrian in my selection.
In detail, we will now go through every single interesting game of today, in which I will assist you with my expertise!
US Open Tips today 24.08.: Coppejans – Rodionov (17:00)
On fast hard courts, Rodionov, with his strong left-handed serve and aggressive style of play, simply has the better weapons to keep the rallies short.
Coppejans feels at home almost exclusively on red ash. As soon as it comes to fast rubbers, the Belgian lacks the necessary penetration and depth in the groundstrokes. Rodionov has delivered much more consistent results on hard court this year and wins a good 62% of his matches on the tour.
The Belgian will bite into it, but Rodionov’s service plus and greater penetration make the difference here. That was to be a smooth success for the Austrian.
My tip: The Austrian may even be in two sets!
US Open betting tonight: Dedura – Ferreira Silva (17:00)
And now to the German’s match! Diego Dedura-Palomero brings an extremely aggressive game and a lot of movement in the groundstrokes. The US hard court suits his fast style of play much better than the Portuguese, who historically had his strongest phases on clay.
Ferreira Silva is without a doubt a tough guy who makes hardly avoidable mistakes, but often lacks the necessary penetration to dictate opponents on faster surfaces.
Nevertheless, it won’t be a foregone conclusion, Ferreira Silva is too cunning for that. But Deduras’ power and the move forward will still make their way to the next qualifying round in the end.
My tip: Narrow but deserved success for the German!
US Open today: Prado Angelo – T.B. Vera (6:30 p.m.)
Barrios Vera has come out on top against Prado Angelo in the past, but that was at a time when the Bolivian was still a teenager on the tour. Since then, he has made a huge leap physically and tactically.
Prado Angelo has already gained a lot of match practice in the calendar year 2026 and has a strong form curve. He also does extremely well off the clay courts.
Barrios Vera, on the other hand, has played very few matches at times this season and hardly won on fast surfaces and does not give me the impression that he can beat the Bolivian in the here and now …
My tip: I’m counting on the surprise and victory of the Bolivian here!
US Open prediction today: Johnson – Garin (18:30)
Garin has already fought five-set battles at Grand Slam level in his career and knows exactly how to approach these nerve-wracking qualifying rounds.
Johnson, on the other hand, mainly serves at the lower-class ITF and college level. The difference in quality in terms of match control and return hardness is huge.
Garin is considered a classic clay court specialist, but in recent years he has learned to be stable on hard court and to dictate rallies from the baseline.
My prediction? The US youngster will hold up well at the beginning thanks to his serve power and home crowd. Over the full distance, however, Garín’s routine, physicality and better baseline consistency prevail.
My tip: Win Garin, most likely in straight sets!
US Open betting today 24.08.: Gomez – Dougaz (18:30)
The two have already faced each other at Challenger level in 2023, where Dougaz still narrowly had the upper hand. But that was yesterday: Gomez is now a completely different player physically and mentally and has clearly overtaken Dougaz in terms of “overall level”.
Gomez has also developed his game on hard court enormously. He serves extremely powerfully and quickly looks for the way forward with his forehand to shorten the points – just the right recipe for the fast courts in Flushing Meadows.
As a left-hander, Dougaz always has an unpleasant cut on the serve, but under pressure he makes far too many simple mistakes on the backhand side …
My tip: Gomez is the much better of the two!
US Open tips tonight: Gaubas – Feldbusch (6:30 p.m.)
The 21-year-old Lithuanian Vilius Gaubas goes into the qualifying race in 14th place and meets the Swiss talent Kilian Feldbausch. Both learned their craft mainly on clay, but now have to prove their qualities on the fast hard court in Flushing Meadows.
Feldbausch has a very fluid, variable baseline game and has won well at smaller tournaments this year.
But the Lithuanian brings extremely physical, almost Spanish-looking footwork with him (no wonder, he trains in Spain and was recently even a sparring partner for Carlos Alcaraz). He can keep the pace of the rallies enormously high.
Feldbausch definitely has the talent to really hurt Gaubas for at least one set. In the end, however, the Lithuanian’s physical toughness and higher match routine should prevail over the full distance.
My tip: Gaubas moves into the next round!
