With the 2-0 home win over Girona, Valencia were able to create some breathing space in the relegation battle last weekend. The supporters of the former top club are hoping for the next victory when Valencia host Osasuna at the Mestalla Stadium.

In case of a draw, some bookmakers offer 3.2 times the stake. Although I think a point draw is not unlikely, I would refrain from this bet in view of the mediocre odds for a draw.
If we look at the 2.4 odds for the “Over 2.5 goals” bet, we probably have to prepare for a rather low-scoring match. This is not surprising considering that the Spanish league has by far the lowest goal average of the European top leagues.
On the other hand, the hope for an entertaining game is that in the previous twelve meetings involving one of these two teams, ten goals were scored at least twice.
Regarding my bet, it should be noted that in each of Osasuna’s previous games, at least one goal was scored at half-time. Furthermore, in the last four games involving Osasuna, a total of 16 goals were scored.
The surprising and somewhat lucky home win against Girona should have saved Baraja’s job, at least for the time being. He has held the position of head coach since spring 2023, but with an average of 1.29 points per game, his record is rather improvable.

With an average age of exactly 25 years, the Blanquinegros are also among the youngest teams in the league, with only Barcelona and Real Sociedad able to beat the low average age of “Los Ches”.
If you attach importance to direct comparisons, the chances of victory for the two-time Uefa Super Cup winner are not that bad. Valencia have won three of the last four meetings.
In 88 meetings between these two teams, Valencia have emerged victorious 45 times, with Osasuna winning just 20. Personally, however, I don’t think too much of such statistics and don’t think that the head-to-head will play any role in the upcoming duel on Tuesday evening.
Rather, I think the constant guests have a better chance of beating Valencia than the betting providers do. The self-confidence of Vicente Moreno’s team is probably greater than that of the Blanquinegros, who are under pressure, in view of the good results of recent weeks.
If Valencia have impressed in the early stages of the season, it has been at home. The creditable win over Girona was the first step in the right direction, but in my opinion it shouldn’t be made a big deal out of.
The cool guests usually don’t need many invitations to score. But Valencia rarely stays solid in defense for 90 minutes.
