Valencia v Osasuna prediction, preview, team news and odds 24/09/2024

La Liga, Tuesday, 24.09.2024 at 7:00 PM

With the 2-0 home win over Girona, Valencia were able to create some breathing space in the relegation battle last weekend. The supporters of the former top club are hoping for the next victory when Valencia host Osasuna at the Mestalla Stadium.

In my Valencia Osasuna betting tip, I am strongly assuming that the game will start with a lot of momentum. My prediction: There will be at least one goal in the first half!

Bookmaker Betano offers the best conditions for this bet in the form of odds of 1.52. With a Betano promo code, you can also get your hands on a voucher and start with €20 in betting credit.

New season, same old problems! Valencia are picking up where they left off from last season in the 2024/25 campaign. The bats are currently in penultimate place with only four points from six games.

The six-time Spanish champions have only won one of the last 13 league games across the season, so coach Ruben Baraja is facing heavy criticism and has to fear for his job.

The situation looks much more relaxed for the guests from Pamplona. 10 points from the first 6 games mean 7th place for Vicente Moreno’s team, but the Rojillos are still waiting for something to score away from home.

Just like Valencia, Pamplona also had something to celebrate at the weekend. The 2019 second division champions beat Las Palmas 2-1. However, Club Atletico’s program so far has been manageable, with the tough matches coming in the next few weeks.

Despite the slow start, German betting providers see the hosts as slightly ahead. For a home win, the bookmakers are providing odds of up to 2.10 in the Valencia vs. Osasuna duel. This is countered by the multiplier of 3.75 for a win by Osasuna.

In case of a draw, some bookmakers offer 3.2 times the stake. Although I think a point draw is not unlikely, I would refrain from this bet in view of the mediocre odds for a draw.

If we look at the 2.4 odds for the “Over 2.5 goals” bet, we probably have to prepare for a rather low-scoring match. This is not surprising considering that the Spanish league has by far the lowest goal average of the European top leagues.

On the other hand, the hope for an entertaining game is that in the previous twelve meetings involving one of these two teams, ten goals were scored at least twice.

Regarding my bet, it should be noted that in each of Osasuna’s previous games, at least one goal was scored at half-time. Furthermore, in the last four games involving Osasuna, a total of 16 goals were scored.

The surprising and somewhat lucky home win against Girona should have saved Baraja’s job, at least for the time being. He has held the position of head coach since spring 2023, but with an average of 1.29 points per game, his record is rather improvable.

After competing for a European starting place for a long time last season and finishing the season in 9th place, a single-digit place in the table was considered a minimum goal in the summer. Valencia’s last appearance in an international competition was in 2019/2020, when they reached the CL round of 16.

If you take a closer look at the squad of the long-established club threatened by relegation, you will be surprised at the weak start to the season. Across the league, only five teams have a higher total market value than Valencia.

In my opinion, the summer transfer window is not really an explanation for the catastrophic start either. Apart from a few additions and departures, the team remained largely together.

Above all, the lack of offensive danger is seen as the reason for the never-ending crisis of form. Valencia CF’s professionals have only scored five goals so far.

With an average age of exactly 25 years, the Blanquinegros are also among the youngest teams in the league, with only Barcelona and Real Sociedad able to beat the low average age of “Los Ches”.

If you attach importance to direct comparisons, the chances of victory for the two-time Uefa Super Cup winner are not that bad. Valencia have won three of the last four meetings.

In 88 meetings between these two teams, Valencia have emerged victorious 45 times, with Osasuna winning just 20. Personally, however, I don’t think too much of such statistics and don’t think that the head-to-head will play any role in the upcoming duel on Tuesday evening.

Rather, I think the constant guests have a better chance of beating Valencia than the betting providers do. The self-confidence of Vicente Moreno’s team is probably greater than that of the Blanquinegros, who are under pressure, in view of the good results of recent weeks.

If Valencia have impressed in the early stages of the season, it has been at home. The creditable win over Girona was the first step in the right direction, but in my opinion it shouldn’t be made a big deal out of.

The cool guests usually don’t need many invitations to score. But Valencia rarely stays solid in defense for 90 minutes.

My Valencia Osasuna betting tip is: At least one goal will be scored in the first half!
