It’s a game for the golden pineapple – let’s see if we see a 0:0 or a 5:5! In my VfB Stuttgart Augsburg betting tip, I take a close look at the two teams who will be looking to decide who the stronger Swabians are – fittingly, they are neighbors in the current table.
I’m betting on a rather close game, which is why I’m putting the 2:0 handicap bet on the Fuggerstädter. Although they are not in particularly good form at the moment, the hosts Stuttgart have been losing home game after home game for weeks now.
Nevertheless, there is still something at stake for VfB: rhythm. The DFB Cup final against Arminia Bielefeld is just a few weeks away, so it’s important to be careful about the mood in which they travel to the capital.
The recent history clearly speaks in Stuttgart’s favor. They have won six of the last seven duels and have been unbeaten in their own stadium for ten years. That gives the beleaguered “real” Swabians confidence that they can finally end their home slump.
Somehow, this game on Sunday evening is a derby, but somehow not quite yet. The fact that both will finish this season in mid-table means that we really have to keep an eye on every result.

You all know it: it’s hard to predict games in which the only thing that matters from a purely sporting point of view is the ranking. Many of Stuttgart’s results in recent weeks were very unfortunate, but there was less to criticize in terms of play. So I can imagine a home win, but: rather a close one with exactly one goal ahead.
It’s not for nothing that the last three head-to-head duels have ended 1-0. Bet365 has the right bet with odds of 4.00. In terms of a result bet, a fourth 1:0 in a row would result in 9.50 odds.
As Stuttgart have already conceded 15 goals in the final quarter of an hour, you can also bet on an Augsburg goal after the break. The odds at Betano are 2.00.
VfB Stuttgart vs. Augsburg: A conciliatory home finish to 2024/25?
0:1 against Heidenheim, 1:2 against Bremen, 3:4 against Leverkusen, 1:3 against Bayern, 1:2 against Wolfsburg and 1:2 against Gladbach – it didn’t help the Swabians at all that they were never really defeated.
In all six of these home games, they conceded a goal in the final 15 minutes, with eight of them coming in their own box during this period. The last time VfB conceded a goal in their own stadium was in mid-January.
Perhaps Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß is acting as a positive omen? With Stuttgart and Hoffenheim, he has only lost one of nine games against FC Augsburg.
Not in the current season, because both in the first half of the Bundesliga and in the DFB Cup there was a narrow 1:0. This result has now been achieved three times in a row, and VfB has a total of four consecutive trebles without conceding a goal.

Is Augsburg just letting it go?

After the 2-0 defeat to Leverkusen, which was of course still justifiable, the Fuggerstädter lost quite surprisingly 3-1 to Kiel. The strong defense apparently went into the summer break early.
For the first time since December, the team conceded two defeats in a row. Back then it was three. And the losses against Leverkusen (0:2) and Kiel (1:5) were followed by a 0:1 against VfB Stuttgart.
The 0:2 against the Werkself a few weeks ago was the first away defeat since the clear defeat at the Storks. Augsburg had only conceded three goals in the eight games prior to the Leverkusen match.
Europe is no longer an issue, Augsburg will finish the 2024/25 season in mid-table. Incidentally, the team conceded two goals before the break in each of the last two rounds.

Both teams know that: They are no longer pursuing goals in the Bundesliga and will finish somewhere in mid-table. Accordingly, I expect a relatively close home game, as the two direct duels this season have been. My tip is therefore:
