NFL 2024/25: Vikings – 49ers
According to the current NFL schedule, a very interesting game awaits you on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium, which could actually be closer than the bookmakers would have you believe.
Of course, in theory, the visitors can’t lose a game until the New Year. But according to my Vikings 49ers betting tip, the Californians will now face an opponent who, with Aaron Jones and Justin Jefferson, can completely turn the course of the game on its head on a good day.
By the way, did you know? In addition to this analysis, I have also written compact tips for all NFL Week 2 games!
The Vikings come home with a ton of momentum after asphalting the Giants 28-6. New quarterback, Sam Darnold, made a real statement in the process.
In his first game for Minnesota, he completed 19 of 24 pass attempts for 208 yards, two touchdowns and an annoying interception. Room for improvement, but certainly not bad for the new playmaker of the “Purple People Eater”.
On the other hand, there are a few question marks for the 49ers – and the biggest one revolves around Christian McCaffrey.
After his surprising rest against the Jets in Week 1 due to a calf and Achilles tendon injury, his participation in Week 2 is anything but certain.
This could really shake up the dynamics of the game. But rest assured: The Niners have enough alternatives at this position!
Because Jordan Mason delivered against the Jets! With 28 carries and 147 yards, he put in his best performance to date.
If McCaffrey is out, the 49ers are well equipped to send Mason back in and still get tons of yards.
All the offseason contract drama that played out in the spring and summer? Seems like they didn’t throw the Niners off track a bit!
However, if you don’t want to bet on the outcome of the game itself, but prefer a player bet, Aaron Jones is the perfect choice!
Take a look at the numbers: In his last nine September home games, Jones has scored at least one touchdown in eight of them.
That’s an impressive rate from the Vikings’ running back that can’t simply be ignored.
On top of that, he’s totaled over 94 rushing yards each of the last six games and has totaled over 109 rushing or receiving yards in each of those games. The guy is just a machine on the field!
And here’s the clincher: He’s scored at least two touchdowns in each of his last three Week 2 games. If that’s not a pattern, I don’t know what is!
That’s why I recommend betting on a Jones touchdown. The odds of 2.30 are solid, and you’re betting on a running back who knows how to punch holes in a D-line at the crucial moments!
In terms of a classic 1X2 bet, I find it interesting that the bookies favor the 49ers and have chosen a “spread” of -6.5 points.
It’s almost a bit of deja vu, don’t you think?
Because last season, both franchises met at U.S. Bank Stadium during Week 7 – and with an identical spread.
The result? The Vikings surprisingly – but not undeservedly – won 22-17 thanks to many successful kicks by Greg Joseph.
Could something like that happen again this season? Minnesota honestly has it in their own hands.
They have a strong running back in Jones and one of the best wide receivers in the NFL in Justin Jefferson.
If Christian McCaffrey – who scored two touchdowns against them last season – is indeed missing on the other side, then this could indeed be a tight affair.
And why not? San Francisco has only won one of its last ten NFL games in this stadium anyway (9 losses).
But be aware that SF is one of the NFL’s hottest favorites for a reason.
In fact, the 49ers took care of the Jets impressively on Monday, racking up 401 total yards, 25 first downs, no turnovers and 38:40 minutes of possession time – a remarkable offensive performance.
The 49ers defense, on the other hand, held New York in check with 266 yards (68 rushing), 14 first downs and two turnovers. Great numbers through and through!
Conclusion: In this northern part of the USA, the Californians have fallen short of their expectations for several years now.
But if they’re going to survive without Christian McAffrey at U.S. Bank Stadium, they’ll undoubtedly have to play their best football against this tricky opponent on Sunday.
The lopsided Vikings 49ers odds definitely invite you to stick with the “Purple People Eater” and their speedy running back.
I wouldn’t put my money on a home win, but at the same time I wouldn’t categorically rule it out.
My Vikings 49ers tip: Aaron Jones with touchdown!
