Finish 2024 in a double-digit place in the table? Absolutely not! Manchester United are unfortunately playing no part at all in the Premier League title race, making it all the more important not to stumble again on Boxing Day.
We’re actually going to a favorite opponent on Thursday, but what does that mean in a crisis? In my Wolverhampton Manchester United betting tip, I’ll tell you why I can’t imagine a defense holding up here!
It’s a kind of permanent crisis, a completely messed up first half of the season, a period of suffering that has been going on for months! Everyone who follows Manchester United is not having an easy December.
The Red Devils are stuck deep in mid-table and have won just six of 17 games. A few days ago, they were beaten 3-0 at home by Bournemouth, with the fans not even wanting to look at the end.
Three of the last four matches have been lost, so it’s little consolation that there was a last-minute win (2:1) in the derby against City in between. Overall, the Red Devils have simply not been consistent in this round.
Two wins in a row? We’re looking for them in vain! Fulham, Southampton, Brentford, Leicester, Everton and the Skyblues were beaten, and these results had 15 goals to offer.
The reason I mention this is because United really aren’t one of the best teams in attack. The team scored 21 times and failed to score six times.
It’s neither an advantage nor a disadvantage when United face a home game. That’s not the case on Thursday; with two wins, three draws and three defeats, things are logically not going well away from home either.
The last win was the first since mid-September, and the aforementioned 2:1 at the Etihad was of course also very fortunate. What’s more, as you may have noticed, City are in a deep crisis.

One thing is clear for the Red Devils: if they are playing away from home, the fans are unlikely to be treated to a spectacle, both offensively and defensively. The goal difference: 8:8! That corresponds to an average of exactly two goals per game.
The team never scored more than three goals in away games, but that happened four times. Since that corresponds to an average of exactly 50%, you could bet that there will be exactly three goals again on Thursday.
At Interwetten, the odds would climb to 3.75. Speaking of odds, the Red Devils are favored in Wolverhampton despite a difficult phase, receiving average values of 1.95 to 3.75.
Is that because United have won seven of the last eight head-to-head duels? They haven’t lost at the Molineux Stadium since April 2019, which is certainly something to be proud of.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are spending Christmas below the line, but have at least managed to reduce the deficit. With 40 goals, the Yellow and Blacks have the worst defense of the competition.
However, they finally recorded a 3-0 win against Leicester! It was the second result this season without conceding a goal and perhaps even a good omen, because: The first three-nil win was followed by the second in the 4-1 win against Fulham.
Of course, the fans would be delighted if there was another win in the double-header. Incidentally, Wolves have conceded 20 goals at home AND away, so they’re not defending well anywhere.
Four losses in a row? That’s how badly this season started at home! With the team currently on two defeats again, it would be nothing new for the fans if that were to happen again.
Manchester United are celebrating Christmas without a good mood, that’s for sure! The Red Devils are not doing very well away from home with two away wins.
Wolverhampton could in principle be a pleasant opponent, as the Yellow and Blacks are deep in the relegation battle. The recent 3-0 win against Leicester has given the team an extra boost.
Ultimately, in my eyes, two clubs will meet that are not exactly brimming with self-confidence. As the visitors have enough weaknesses away from home, I can recommend the following bet with a clear conscience:
