Eight points behind, one game less – nothing more can happen! Fenerbahce are desperate to become champions in 2025 but, unlike their rivals, have already had the odd slip-up.
On Sunday, the Canaries face a business trip to a club that is known for its draws.
In my Trabzonspor Fenerbahce betting tip, I’ll tell you why I’m taking a slightly riskier bet and why I’m thinking of a points split.
Starting the new season with six wins, two draws and one defeat? That’s not wrong in principle, but when your name is Fenerbahce, you could do a lot better!
The Canaries only finished second in 2023/24, despite scoring a brilliant 99 points. Galatasaray were that one tick better, which is exactly what Fener would like to do the other way around this time
Unfortunately, however, their rivals have already got off to a flying start, whereas the team coached by Jose Mourinho has been less than satisfactory from time to time. The only defeat? A 3-1 defeat in the derby against Gala, of all teams.
They also drew 2-2 against Samsunspor and Göztepe, both times equalizing very late on. Fenerbahce lack the final consistency, which is exactly what you can’t have if you want to become champions.
In the Europa League, quite interestingly, they won 2-1 against Royale Union, while the games against Manchester United and Twente Enschede were both 1-1.
Is there a general preference as to where the team prefers to play? There have been the two aforementioned draws away from home, plus wins against Rizespor (5-0), Kasimpasa (2-0) and Antalyaspor (2-0).
So there have been at least two goals in every away game. Is it worth betting on over 1.5 goals for the visitors against Trabzonspor? At Betano we find odds of 1.75, so this bet could well pay off.
In fact, there are only five players in the squad who have scored in the Champions League. Edin Dzeko and Dusan Tadic have scored eleven times between them, with Fred, Cenk Tosun and Allan Saint-Maximine accounting for a further eight goals.
Who will you be looking for against Trabzonspor? Not a favorite, but not a fearful opponent either, that’s the best way to describe it. Last season, both sides recorded a 3-2 away win.
15 of the last 17 head-to-head meetings, which is definitely interesting, have featured goals from both sides. Nevertheless, anything can happen here, which makes a look at the 1×2 odds all the more exciting:
With an average of 1.80 to 4.40, the visitors are ahead, which is quite clear! Trabzonspor are certainly not easy to beat, having lost once – just like the Canaries.
Unfortunately, Trabzonspor have the problem that they win far too rarely. Unbelievable, but true: it started with five draws! In total, the team has already shared the points six times – no one can top that.
Three times there were no goals at all, but only away from home. 2:2 against Kayserispor, 1:1 against Besiktas, 3:2 against Konyaspor and 1:0 against Basaksehir, it’s always close at Papara Park.
The win against Basaksehir was wrapped up in stoppage time, and in the 2:2 against Kayserispor it was a goal after the end of normal time that secured a point.
So it’s not as if Trabzonspor are an absolute bank at home. With ten goals from ten games, they cannot be satisfied with their average, with only twice scoring more than one goal.
In addition, it could well be that the recent defeat against Göztepe has not yet been fully digested. When did it happen? In the second minute of stoppage time, so it couldn’t have been more unfortunate!
Fenerbahce or Trabzonspor, who is more satisfied with their start to the season? In any case, both teams have only conceded one defeat. The home side have been held to countless draws and are rarely compelling enough.
Fener, on the other hand, know that when they win, they have to do so without conceding a goal. The Canaries are good for the odd slip-up and have only scored more than two goals once.
The bottom line is that I think we’ll see an interesting match without any real favorites. I see Fenerbahce just ahead, but I don’t think it will be a wild shootout. That’s why my tip is:
Fenerbahce to score under 3.5 goals!
