Final destination midfield? That cannot and must not be the aim! Manchester United must fight their way out of a deep crisis in the Premier League. A crisis that has already cost coach Erik ten Haag his job.
On Sunday, they face an opponent that is incredibly difficult to assess. Why is that the case and why do I suggest a “both teams score” with over 2.5 goals? I’ll tell you all about it in my Manchester United Chelsea betting tip!
Three draws in the Europa League, a run of just three wins, two draws and four defeats in the Premier League? It’s certainly not a record Manchester United can be proud of!
The Reds had already fallen short of their own expectations in 2023/24, but despite big names among the new signings, things are anything but good this season.
The first victim was, as expected, coach ten Haag. No sooner had he been sacked than United had to play Leicester in the EFL Cup. And it’s fair to say that: The stars really let the frustration out of their souls!
They won 5:2, with Casemiro and Bruni Fernandes scoring twice. Perhaps the result could have been a little clearer, as no more goals were scored from the 60th minute onwards.
Who was on the touchline? Club icon Ruud van Nistelrooy! The Dutchman is only expected to be successful on an interim basis, however, and United are already looking for a new manager. As good as the evening in the cup was, it now has to be confirmed in the league.
Fulham, Southampton and Brentford – these three clubs were beaten. With eight goals from nine games, the attack has been very unfortunate and it is hard to believe that five goals were scored against Leicester.
Six out of nine games, which seems to be a United standard, had exactly three goals, the other three only one in total. So there could be an interesting bet lurking for you here.
For the bet that the match against Chelsea on Sunday will get exactly three goals, you can secure strong odds of 4.00 at Oddset and also benefit from the fact that there is a free bet on offer for this.
1:0 against Fulham, 0:3 against Liverpool, 0:3 against Tottenham and 2:1 against Brentford? No, things are still not going well at home. The Devils have fallen behind in three of their four home games.
Also exciting, because if you bet at Betano that Chelsea will score 1-0 at the weekend, you will be offered odds of 2.00. Speaking of odds, our bookmakers don’t have a favorite for the win.
On average, a value of 2.55 is possible – and that applies equally to both teams! I take a quick look at the history to see if there is any indication of the upcoming winner.
Five of the last eight duels, all of them very exciting, did not even have a winner. However, United fans will be pleased to know that their team have not lost a Premier League home game against Chelsea for over eleven years!
The visitors from London know full well that they must seize the moment, true to the motto “If not now, then when”. They were also on the road in the EFL Cup during the week, but lost 2-0 to Newcastle.
A damper! After a run of four wins and a draw in the Premier League, things aren’t going so well at the moment either, with only one of the last three games being won.
Well, after the 1:1 against Nottingham, there was a narrow 1:2 against Liverpool, followed by a 2:1 win against the Magpies, which worked out in the PL. It’s worth noting that the Londoners have only scored twice.
Manchester United should be mindful of the fact that Chelsea have been scoring consistently since matchday two and have already amassed 19 goals. The Blues got off to a good start with three away wins and ten goals, but then came the 2-1 defeat at Anfield
Manchester United need to regroup. As good as the 5-2 win in the EFL Cup was, it should not be rated too highly or too lowly. Chelsea are a welcome guest at Old Trafford and have always scored points for eleven and a half years.
But the Blues are doing well in the league, only losing away to Liverpool and, above all, scoring far more goals than the Red Devils – and, with two exceptions, always conceding some.
All in all, I think we’ll see two very committed teams who both have a few deficiencies in their defenses. My tip is therefore:
Both will score, the 2.5 goals will be cracked!
