Bundesliga matchday 21, Saturday, 08.02.2025 at 15:30
Relegated with the Conference League in the trophy cabinet? An unlikely, but not entirely impossible fate that could soon befall Heidenheim.
Let’s imagine: “Red-Blue” wins the UECL and crowns its season with an international success, but in the end it’s not enough to stay in the Bundesliga. An absurd thought, but nevertheless a theoretical scenario that threatens to become reality for the Brenzstädter.
In my Freiburg Heidenheim betting tip for the Baden Bundesliga derby on matchday 21, I’ll be looking at all the relevant aspects of this encounter.
The Baden derby between SC Freiburg and 1. FC Heidenheim already has a certain tradition in German professional soccer!
The two teams have played each other five times in the league so far. Freiburg have won three of these duels.
The Breisgau side therefore have an overall positive record against FCH, with three wins, one draw and one defeat.
The 3-0 win in Heidenheim at the start of this season remains a particular highlight and marks the highest Bundesliga win for Sport-Club so far this season.
Will it be another clear-cut victory for the Black Forest side? Find out in my Freiburg Heidenheim prediction!
The oddsmakers’ forecast?
Freiburg is the favorite on the betting markets with average odds of 1.73 on Saturday.
Heidenheim will not give up without a fight. But with odds of 4.70, the bookmakers with a German license let it be known that they do not have much faith in “Red-Blue”.
According to the current Freiburg Heidenheim odds, the host is the clear favorite, but if FCN plays well, it could at least be close …
KI prediction Freiburg vs Heidenheim: ChatGPT
The Freiburg Heidenheim AI prediction from ChatGPT offers some interesting suggestions, whereby the risks vary depending on the choice.
For the high risk, for example, the tip “Victory SCF & Over 3.5 goals” is recommended. A very appealing combination bet, which I would also classify as promising.
As my personal tip is for a 3:1 win for Freiburg, this would fit in quite well.
The medium risk bet “Both score: No” at odds of around 2.02 is a rather uncertain 50:50 scenario. Although I secretly expect FCH to score an honorary goal, the outcome of this bet remains completely open.
The tip “Freiburg to score a goal in both halves: No” is ultimately considered a low-risk betting suggestion.
But even this suggestion from ChatGPT doesn’t really convince me, as I assume that Freiburg can score three to four goals. I therefore consider this betting tip to be less attractive.
Overall, the bet “Victory SCF & Over 3.5 goals” is therefore the most promising suggestion for me, while the other bets have significantly more uncertainties.
Analysis: Freiburg vs Heidenheim
This weekend, Freiburg and Heidenheim will meet in an important Bundesliga match.
Freiburg finally ended a three-game losing streak last Saturday with a 1-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Bochum and at the same time took heart from the prospect of qualifying for the European Cup.
Ninth place in the table now gives Julian Schuster’s team the chance to record two wins in a row for the first time since mid-October with a victory against Heidenheim.
Heidenheim, on the other hand, are in a relegation battle and are in the unwelcome relegation spot after matchday 20.
Things are not going well away from home in particular, as the club has picked up just one point in its last seven away games.
Nevertheless, Heidenheim will try everything they can on Saturday to celebrate their first away win since September and stabilize their recently very shaky defence. But I don’t really think they’ll succeed!
Odds Analysis
Should I give you two more promising value bet suggestions?
“Grifo scores” at odds of 3.40 is an interesting tip. After all, the Italian already scored twice in the first round match against Heidenheim, which speaks for his enormous goal threat.
“Freiburg to score over 2.5 goals” at 3.20 is also a bet I would recommend. The 3-0 scoreline in the first half of the season shows that Freiburg are quite capable of scoring several goals against FCH – and this time they’re even playing at home!
Freiburg vs. Heidenheim: It could come crashing down towards the end!
The last 15 minutes could provide plenty of excitement again if you look at the numbers!
Keep in mind: Heidenheim have conceded the most goals within the final quarter of an hour (10), and Freiburg aren’t doing too well in this ranking either with 9 goals conceded.
However, it also shows that Sport-Club have not scored a single goal themselves in this last quarter of an hour, while Heidenheim have scored 7 times.
The best Heidenheim players now play for Sport-Club!
If we look at the personnel situation alone and compare it with 2023/24, then FCH can hardly emerge as the winner here.
That’s because two of the three players who contributed the most goals last season – Jan-Niklas Beste and Eren Dinkci – are now part of Freiburg’s line-up.
That could be another blow for Heidenheim, as the visitors will now face their former crowd favorites on Saturday.
Heidenheim are the victims of a historic period of weakness, which should play into Freiburg’s hands. Since the introduction of the 3-point rule, no team in 16th place after 20 matchdays has had as few points in their account as Heidenheim (just 14).
And for the first time in Bundesliga history, there are three teams that have conceded at least 14 defeats in the first 20 matchdays – including Heidenheim, along with Bochum and Kiel.
That makes it clear that even if Sport-Club have certainly seen better times, the visitors from the Brenz are currently a whole lot worse off.
You should also not forget that Heidenheim, not Breisgau, will be in Conference League action on Thursday.
In what could be the most important match in the club’s history against FC Copenhagen, FCH will have to make the difficult decision as to whether it might not be better to rest some players.
Especially if it becomes clear early on that Freiburg will dominate the game anyway!
My Freiburg Heidenheim tip:
Freiburg go into the clash against Heidenheim with a lot of tailwind, although the last few months have not quite gone according to plan. FCH, on the other hand, must position themselves strategically in the relegation battle and conserve their strength, as more important games lie ahead.
FCH can still pick up points elsewhere to secure their place in the league. However, the club from the Brenz may only take part in the Conference League play-offs once!
Sport-Club are clear favorites on paper and should win this match with aplomb.
My Freiburg Hoffenheim prediction: Half-time/final score 1/1
