When an attacking style leads to defeats, we try a defensive tactic! In the Black Forest, a team is setting its sights on fourth place! So there is certainly no lack of motivation for the hosts in my Freiburg Werder Bremen betting tip!
The sports club is finally showing the consistency it has longed for for so long – even if it comes at the expense of spectacular results.
That’s why I decided to pick a rather cautious bet for Friday evening, too.
The betting providers’ prediction?
After three wins in a row, you might think that Freiburg would be the clear favorites in their next home game, but it’s not that easy! Although SCF is ahead with our sports betting providers, odds of around 2.20 don’t sound that euphoric.
The Bremen team, on the other hand, is getting 3.20 on average, so they can certainly live with that in an away game. They prefer to play away from home, but have only taken one point out of three away games in 2025.
The home-strong Freiburgers have only shared the points at home once, and have not collected a second-half draw against Bremen in their own stadium since 2012. Nevertheless, if you bet on a draw on Friday, you can expect the classic odds of 3.50.
How does the AI deal with the fact that Freiburg is currently in good form? It’s hard to say, but during my research, ChatGPT again suggested three very interesting bets.
Very pleasing: there is once again an outcome bet, namely 1-0. After three consecutive 1-0 wins, it’s no wonder that this result is suggested. Since the Badeners have now also won two of their last three duels against Bremen in this way, I would risk the tip straight away.
At the same time, with the AI, you can also imagine that Freiburg will set the course for victory early on and lead at half-time. Since this has applied to five of the last seven home games, I can’t say anything against this betting recommendation.
Is the classic “BTS” correct in the end instead? It wouldn’t fit with the suggested 1-0! SCF only collected two white vests at home, while Bremen only remained scoreless away from home against Bayern and Frankfurt. So my conclusion: you can do it, although given Freiburg’s current results, the opposite would also be conceivable!
Analysis: Freiburg vs Werder Bremen
The turn of the year in Freiburg? Uneasy! There were five goals conceded against Leverkusen, four against Frankfurt, four against Stuttgart, four defeats in five games and the supposed certainty that it seems to be insufficient against the best teams in the league.
Admittedly, anyone facing Leverkusen, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Bayern in the space of a few days might be forgiven for getting a little down. However, the schedule should soon get easier for the club from the Black Forest.
Bochum, Heidenheim and St. Pauli – three times in a row, a club in serious danger of relegation was on the opposite side. And the Freiburgers didn’t even try to win by a landslide, as they had often been caught out before.
So coach Julian Schuster came up with a different strategy, and it worked. 1-0, 1-0, 1-0 – with nine points, the three games were completed as successfully as possible! Well, a header went in twice, and there was an own goal just before the end, but by then no one was paying attention anymore.
For the first time this season, SCF kept a clean sheet three times in a row, and for the first time they also won three times in a row. At home, the problems from late fall were not as serious as they were on the road.
Odds analysis
Freiburg conceded 13 goals in the first half and 23 in the second half! A clear difference, which is why I can well imagine the bet “More goals in the second half”. The odds at Betano jump to 2.00.
Since the end of September, the sports club has only conceded one goal at home before half-time, and that was against the record champions from Munich. So if you rule out a Bremen goal in the first 45, you can expect odds of 1.65 at Interwetten.
Incidentally, Bremen have only led at half-time away from home against FC St. Pauli this season. Since Freiburg have gone into the half-time break 1-0 up in three of their last five home games, you can place exactly this result bet, which has odds of 4.33 at the Bet365 app.
Freiburg vs. Werder Bremen: The own stadium as a weapon
13 conceded goals at home, 23 away, the defensive fact alone shows where the problems lie. In addition, goals were scored almost twice as often in their own stadium. They have won seven of the ten home games, which is definitely impressive.
And while Freiburg was always behind in the first three home games this season, this has only happened once since, namely in the narrow 2-1 defeat to Bayern.
Three times in a row, the defense had temporarily slipped up, allowing two goals each against Wolfsburg, Kiel (both times completely unnecessarily in the final minutes after leading 3-0), and Bayern.
Is Werder letting the top get away?
She recently found her way back to her old strength in the 1-0 win against Heidenheim. Fun fact: This season, SCF played exactly once against a team that was tenth at the time of the match day: In the first half of the season against Bremen!
SVW are also tenth now, and know that they could lose three Bundesliga games in a row in Freiburg for the first time in history. There have only been three goals in the last six games, which is also thin on the ground.
1:0, 2:0, 1:1, 0:1, 1:1 and 1:0? The most recent results from Freiburg’s point of view are definitely not spectacular. But the Hanseatic League can actually put on a show, especially when they are let off the leash away from home.

Will SC Freiburg continue their minimalist streak? Admittedly, a 1-0 scoreline might not always be pretty to watch, but three points are three points! In their own stadium, the sports club doesn’t falter anyway.
I’m a bit skeptical about the current form of the team from Bremen, as the trend is pointing downwards. Since the direct duels between the two teams on Baden soil have ended rather unspectacularly for some time now, I’m picking up on that.
I see SCF in front, and I also recognize a strong defensive trend. And since the last six games between the two teams in Freiburg only featured nine goals, my tip is:
Freiburg scores a maximum of three goals!
