Someone is in the worst crisis in decades! Manchester City are slipping further and further down the Premier League table, nobody can really explain what is going on with the Skyblues – the championship is currently not even an issue.
The bookmakers are quite brave, as they are still trying to favor Guardiola’s team – including on Saturday.
But I’ll tell you in my Aston Villa Manchester City betting tip why I have the almost logical double chance 1X in mind here.
Eight wins from the first 16 rounds? No, that’s not the result of a mid-table club, but that of Manchester City, the great dominator of England, who actually wanted to be at the top in 2024/25!
With seven wins and two draws, the Skyblues actually started quite well, although the first question marks began to appear in October: 2:1 against Wolverhampton or 1:0 against Southampton, the two relegation candidates?
Here you would expect the classic City scoring festivals with three, four or even more goals. And now it’s here, the deep crisis that somehow nobody can really explain and which affects both the Premier League and the top flight.
First there were four consecutive defeats against Bournemouth (1-2), Brighton (1-2), Tottenham (0-4) and Liverpool (0-2) before a 3-0 win against Nottingham seemingly heralded an improvement – but only for one matchday.
2:2 against Crystal Palace and 1:2 in the derby against United, City are completely off the rails. Six of the last seven games alone have seen them concede at least two goals, five times exactly two.
I automatically look to Oddset here and realize: If you want to bet on Aston Villa scoring more than 1.5 goals on Saturday, you’ll end up with odds of 2.20. But there’s another interesting tip for you.
Man City have conceded exactly two goals five times in the aforementioned period. Interwetten offers exactly the right tip here, because in the event that Villa score exactly those two goals, the odds jump to a strong 3.55.
With one win from the last six away games, it is certainly not an advantage that the Citizens now have to play away from home – they have only played to nil on the first matchday with a 2-0 win against Chelsea.
The crisis is of course also having an impact on goalscorer Erling Haaland. Three goals from the last eleven games? The Norwegian has probably never had such a poor record in his professional career!
If I look at the history, Aston Villa is of course still a certain favorite opponent. They have only lost one of their last 17 matches, but the trip to Villa Park has not always been a welcome one.
0:1, 1:1, 2:1, 2:1, 2:1, the reigning champions have struggled here for years. Still, it’s enough to make them favorites with the bookmakers, with average odds of 2.10 to 3.20 on Saturday.
Aston Villa could overtake Manchester this weekend, going into the clash two points behind. However, the Villans’ current form is not exactly as consistent as their own fans would like either.
Three wins from the past eleven games? Very thin! And all the more curious that it has taken just six matches for four wins in the Champions League.
The international competition has taken a liking to the club, which has also beaten FC Bayern and RB Leipzig. Speaking of which, these two top clubs face each other in the Bundesliga 1 on Friday evening!
A lot of the blame also lies with the away games, as they have already lost four matches. Things are going better at home, however, with no defeats since the second matchday, which resulted in a 2-0 loss to Arsenal.
There have never been three home wins in a row – with recent victories of 3-1 against Brentford and 1-0 against Southampton, the fans are naturally hoping for a first.
For Manchester City, a year that has become increasingly difficult is coming to an end. The Skyblues are no longer able to put in a convincing performance, and the results in the Premier League speak volumes.
Many goals conceded, no more wins, weak performances away from home – anyone can beat the champions at the moment! I also believe Aston Villa can do it, although the home side are not exactly shining with consistency either.
However, they haven’t lost at home since matchday two and have also picked up four points from their last two matches at home against Man City. That’s why I’ve decided on the following bet:
Aston Villa score against City!
