Bilic, Slaven
– without a club
+ Croatia
After the World Cup exit in the round of 16 against Portugal (1:2) and the subsequent exit of long-time national coach Zlatko Dalic, Croatia presented a successor on Monday. As expected, Slaven Bilic, who was already in charge of the Vatreni between 2006 and 2012 and had previously coached the Croatian U21s, will be Croatia’s new head coach. The 57-year-old, who was most recently coach at Al-Fateh in Saudi Arabia, enjoys a high reputation in the country as well as among the players. “It’s up to me to bring in the necessary energy, ambition and determination to continue to count Croatia among the football elite,” Bilic said at his presentation.
