NFL 2024/25: Bills – Jets

The home side won’t concede the game, but they won’t throw themselves into the fray with full intensity either. My Bills Jets betting tip is based on an atypical home game for Buffalo: Lots of punts and more field goals than touchdowns.
In NFL Week 17, the Bills host the Jets in Buffalo, and despite the fact that the season has been extremely disappointing for the NYJ, this matchup could still be exciting.
The Bills, who have looked beatable of late, are not exactly in top form as they prepare for their final home game of the regular season after a narrow 24-21 win over the Patriots in which their offense didn’t really shine.
The cold weather certainly played a role, but the question remains whether the Bills can get their explosive offense back on track by Sunday.
After all, they are now having to deal more and more with the question of whether it wouldn’t be better to rest regular players in the future in view of the imminent start of the NFL playoffs.
Especially since the Chiefs are making no attempt to get off the winning track on their way to defending their title and the No. 2 seed thus remains out of reach for Buffalo.
Nevertheless, despite this less than convincing performance against New England, Buffalo remains one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL, with an impressive record of 30 points in eight consecutive games.

The Jets presented themselves as one of the strongest defensive teams at the start of the season, but things have gone downhill significantly in recent months. Since Week 7, they rank 30th in defensive EPA and have a lot of problems on defense.
On top of that, they are without key players like linebacker C.J. Mosley and star cornerback Sauce Gardner is also a doubt.
The Jets have already lost sight of the playoffs early on, which could further diminish their motivation for this game.
In comparison, it’s not quite a case of the “golden pineapple” for the Bills – a win would at least secure them the No. 2 seed.
Buffalo will be relying heavily on James Cook in this game, who has rushed for over 100 yards three times in the last four games. The last time the two teams met, the Bills offense was able to put up 149 yards on the ground despite Cook’s injury.
The Jets also have to deal with an offensive output of their own that hasn’t always been satisfactory in recent games.
Aaron Rodgers, who is slowly getting back to the peak of his form, will have one of his last chances to prove himself for the upcoming season against the flagging Bills defense.
Still, the question remains whether he can keep up his performance against one of the best teams in the league. In any case, I expect no more than a maximum of 20 points for the “Green Gang”.
I actually have a very good feeling about how this game will end: The Bills win by a one-possession difference.
I tend to assume less than 50 points scored, as the NYJ defense could give the Bills a hard time, especially in cold temperatures and on a good day.
Since the bookmakers with PayPal have sided too heavily with the home side in their Bills Jets odds anyway, I would strongly advise against a home win bet.
After all, who would have thought that the Patriots – who are a shade worse than the “Green Gang” – would give the Bills such a hard time under very similar conditions?
As the bookmakers offer you very generous handicap odds, I would personally prefer the option “New York to win with handicap +11.5” to all other betting offers.
The ratio between risk and payout is simply the best here.
Conclusion: The Bills always put at least 30 points on the board until their last home game. Then came the Pats.
Since the Jets have a similar disposition to the Patriots, I’m inclined to assume a very similar final score to the one from the previous week.
Buffalo will also not want to do more than the bare minimum to secure the win, and with frigid temperatures and a QB spy set on Josh Allen, will likely score comparatively few touchdowns.
My Bills Jets tip: Victory NYJ with handicap +11.5.
