Copa America, Group A, Sunday, 30.06.2024 at 02:00
It’s almost over again. On Saturday night, Canada and Chile face each other in the last group match of the Copa América 2024.
I can basically make it very easy for myself with my Canada Chile betting tip as far as the preliminary skirmish is concerned: If the Canucks win, they are certain to reach the quarter-finals.
With the victory over Peru on the second group matchday, they have created a very good starting position for the final matchday
Even a draw will most likely be enough to progress. After all, it is unlikely that Peru will win against Argentina in the parallel match.
Only a win counts for the Chileans too. That would see them leapfrog the Canadians, but they will have to hope for some help from Argentina.
Since neither team wants to make the first mistake, my Canada Chile prediction assumes a hard-fought game with few goals
The prediction of the bookmakers?
Although geographically it should be more of a home game for the Canucks, considering the distance of almost 3600 kilometers, they go into the game as underdogs.
In the three-way betting odds for the Canada Chile betting tip, the team is only predicted to win at odds of over 3.50.
If they manage to hold on to a theoretical one-goal lead, you will find odds of around 1.70 with the Oddset bookmakers
Analysis: Canada vs Chile
However, the Rouges have nothing to hide. They are not in second place behind Argentina in Group A for nothing.
Defensively, they can certainly work well. They drew 0-0 against France before the tournament. Offensively, they also looked decent at times against the Albiceleste
This was also true of La Roja before the start of the Copa América. Since Ricardo Gareca took over the reins in January, the attack has looked like a different side.
They scored at least two goals in all three test matches, including against runners-up France. They even scored three times against the Albanians, who were so strong at EURO 2024.
Analysis of odds
But La Roja are still waiting for their first goal of the tournament. They put two shots on target in the opening game against Peru and three against Argentina.
And yet top betting providers such as NEObet are optimistic in the Canada Chile betting tip that a goal will be scored this time. The odds for this are around 1.20.
However, the Chileans are not known for high-scoring games at the Copa América. Less than 2.5 goals have been scored in each of the last seven games. Four times even less than 1.5.
If less than two goals are scored this time too, you can pick up odds of around 2.80.
In my opinion, this is very low odds if you think of normal games from the Bundesliga or the current European Championships
Canada’s showpiece
As one of the visiting teams from CONCACAF, the Canucks are currently doing quite well. Not only measured against their possibilities.
In offense, they have been quite convincing so far, even if the one goal they have scored suggests otherwise.
Against Argentina, keeper Emiliano Martinez was the spoilsport on several occasions. The Canadians definitely deserved a goal.
The offense around Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies pushing from the back is one of the team’s great strengths. That shouldn’t be swept under the carpet
Chile find their greed again?
As already mentioned, a certain perplexity has crept in with La Roja. The performances before the Copa were downright respectable.
Since the start of the tournament, the experienced squad with the two veteran stars Vargas and Alexis Sanchez up front seem to have lost their nerve.
None of them have really impressed, although Víctor Dávila showed good signs against Peru. However, Vargas is considered to have the best chance of scoring.
At Winamax Sportwetten you’ll find odds of around 3.20 for your Canada Chile bet if he scores.
The two nations have relatively little in common, not only culturally but also in terms of soccer. Is that one reason why the Chileans have the lowest murder rate in America after the Canadians? Joking aside.
When Canada and Chile meet in Orlando on Sunday, it will be the first time in a competitive match
The two sides have faced each other three times in friendly matches. La Roja came out on top twice, with the last test taking place in 1995.
Nevertheless, Gareca’s side are unbeaten in four games against teams from North and Central America (3S, 1U), although the strength of their opponents has been manageable, including Cuba.
My tip:
The pressure is clearly on La Roja. They need a win here to stay in the competition, which they last won in 2015 and 2016.
However, I rate the Canucks as at least on a par. They have already shown against Argentina and Peru that they can keep up with the toughness of the South American continent.
Since it will be a close game, my Canada Chile tip is: There will be less than 2.5 goals scored
