Cincinnati Tips today 22.08.: Cobolli – Fils (19:30)
Arthur Fils has easily pulled off Flavio Cobolli twice so far and simply looks more solid and fitter on the pitch overall. In Cincinnati, too, things have gone much better for him so far – so it’s completely clear that he is the favorite here.
But be careful: Cobolli is the kind of guy who really gets into it during a tournament. Once it has a run, it gets dangerous. Nevertheless, everything points to Fils winning the thing in the end.
My tip: Fils does it, probably with a smooth 2:0 set victory!
Cincinnati Betting Tonight: Nakashima – Tiafoe (00:00)
Actually, Tiafoe should win here – with a 7-1 record in a direct comparison, he is mentally ahead anyway. But the form curve is currently pointing somewhere else: Brandon Nakashima is currently playing the tennis of his life and is extremely hot for it.
Tiafoe has also delivered well in recent weeks, but is fresh from an operation and already had to struggle with cramps in the quarterfinals.
With a break of less than 24 hours, this could fall on his feet. Tiafoe’s former coach Wayne Ferreira, of all people, is sitting in Nakashima’s box – of course, he knows every weak point!
My tip: The bottom line is that Nakashima has the better cards here!
Cincinnati tips today: Pegula – Swiatek (19:00)
Actually, Iga Swiatek is better on paper and in a direct comparison she is clearly leading anyway! But Jessica Pegula is exactly the type of opponent who can literally make her life on hard court a living hell.
Pegula takes the balls extremely early and flat, giving Swiatek exactly the time she needs for her powerful topspin shots. Pegula has shown off a lot in the last laps and is extremely stable in the course.
Swiatek has the higher top speed in her game, but likes to make a few too many slight mistakes against such counter-attacking specialists.
If Pegula finds her rhythm on the return and puts Swiatek under pressure, she has an extremely good chance of pulling the match to her side. The bottom line is a completely open thing at eye level, in which Pegula currently has very slight advantages.
My tip: Could well go to the third!
Cincinnati prediction today: Beljek – Gauff (01:00)
On paper, this is actually a crystal clear thing for Coco Gauff. As last year’s winner and US Open champ, she plays in front of her home crowd and brings a lot of power, athleticism and experience.
But be careful: The only 20-year-old Czech Sara Bejlek is the absolute sensation of this tournament. As an unseeded player, she played completely free and knocked top players like Aryna Sabalenka out of the tournament on the way to the semi-finals.
Bejlek has absolutely nothing to lose, plays completely without pressure and currently hits the lines at will. Gauff, on the other hand, has the pressure of expectations from the home crowd breathing down his neck.
The bottom line is that Gauff is the slight favorite, but I still don’t quite trust her to make it 2-0!
Rather, in view of the odds gap, which is not quite justified in my eyes, I would at least trust the Czech to win a set!
My tip: Gauff has to try harder than expected!
Winston-Salem bets today 22.08.: Herbert – Miyoshi (17:00)
On paper, this is a crystal clear thing: The experienced Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert goes into this qualifying match as the seeded favorite. He brings years of experience on the ATP tour, a strong serve and plenty of net skills.
The young Japanese Kenta Miyoshi, on the other hand, is still a relatively unknown figure at this level and has yet to earn his spurs on the professional tour.
Miyoshi has absolutely nothing to lose and can serve completely freely, but the difference in class in terms of experience and rhythm at ATP events is simply huge.
If Herbert gets his serve through cleanly as usual and closes the bag at the net, little burns here.
My tip: Herbert’s experience pays off!
Winston-Salem Tips Tonight: Landaluce – Bellucci (17:00)
At first glance, this actually looks like a close duel at eye level, but the direct comparison speaks a crystal clear language: Martín Landaluce is something like the absolute opponent for Mattia Bellucci.
All four previous duels have gone to the Spanish super talent – most recently he sent the Italian home in straight sets at the Rome Masters.
Landaluce brings the extremely clean baseline strokes and the mental composure to demystify Bellucci’s powerful left-handed game again and again.
Bellucci has a solid serve and likes to find his way to the net, but regularly runs up against the Spaniard’s precise passing balls. As long as Landaluce doesn’t catch a completely used day, he clearly has the trump cards in his hand here.
My tip: Landaluce flashes his talent!
