NFL 2024/25: Dolphins – Jaguars
If you’re looking for an action-packed football weekend, the first of the new season, you simply can’t miss this game.
Because in my Dolphins Jaguars tip, the signs are clearly pointing to an upset. I expect the spectacular Floridian offense to put between four and five balls in the Jags’ end zone.
In addition, I highly recommend that you take advantage of the numerous odds boosts to spice up your very own NFL bets
The Miami Dolphins, or rather “the Fins”, were one of the most exciting teams in the NFL last year. With an electrifying offense and a dynamic passing game, they gave many opponents problems.
In the offseason, the Dolphins strengthened their team even further, especially on offense. As a result, they are definitely one of the NFL favorites for 2024.
Young halfback Jaylen Wright brings a breath of fresh air to the running game, and although Odell Beckham Jr. is injured at the beginning of the season, he will certainly give the team new momentum as soon as he is back on the field.
On the other side of the field are the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags had high expectations for last season but failed to live up to them, ultimately finishing second in their division.
It was particularly disappointing that they had the same record as the Indianapolis Colts, who were led by a QB backup like Gardner Minshew.
This mixed performance has made waves and many fans and pundits are wondering if the Jaguars will be able to finally take the next step in their development in 2024.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence, once hailed as a potentially exceptional talent, hasn’t quite made the breakthrough yet. Hopes are now pinned on the addition of rookie receiver Brian Thomas Jr. to take the offense to a new level.
Last year, Calvin Ridley also failed to live up to the high expectations, so the pressure will be greater on the former first-round pick starting in 2024.
In the end, I have the impression that the Dolphins have much more offensive potential, which is why I expect results such as 29:23 or 35:26 for the “Fins” on Sunday in a by no means low-scoring affair
If we now take a closer look at the Dolphins Jaguars odds together, it is noticeable that Raheem Mostert is a hot candidate for touchdown bets.
Why? Simple: Mostert has scored at least one touchdown in eleven of the last twelve games in which the Dolphins have been favored in the betting markets.
Odds of 2.00 for another touchdown on Sunday therefore appear to be a solid and safe bet. Those who want to play it safe here could therefore do well with this player bet
For those of you who like to take a little more risk, there is an even more exciting option: Mostert has scored two touchdowns in the last three games against AFC teams as the Dolphins’ favorite.
With odds of 6.00 for Mostert to catch two six-pointers in Week 1, this would be a riskier bet, but the potential profit is of course correspondingly tempting.
Interestingly, the underdog has won the last four meetings between the Jaguars and Dolphins. With odds of 2.40, a bet on the Jaguars as the underdog would therefore be well worth considering.
It’s certainly not my favorite bet, but I just couldn’t keep this stat from you
By the way, the Dolphins have won 7 of their last 8 regular-season home games, so I just can’t trade them as underdogs at Hard Rock Stadium.
Especially since Miami has also played a good preseason, beating both the Falcons (20-13) and the Commanders (13-6).
Sure, no top franchises, but the Dolphins’ best players weren’t always on the field at the same time either!
Conclusion: My Dolphins Jaguars prediction is in favor of the home side in this one, and with good reason.
Miami comes into this duel with an explosive offense that could prevail against a Jags defense that doesn’t appear to be at its best yet.
Last season, the Floridians proved many times that they are capable of scoring plenty of touchdowns.
With weapons like Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Waddle, Miami has the potential to score more than 3.5 touchdowns, especially against a Jaguars defense that might have trouble keeping up with their pace.
Even though Jacksonville is basically a playoff contender, this matchup could be a clear-cut affair for Miami.
All in all, all signs point to the Fins dominating the game and finding the end zone multiple times.
My tip: Miami scores over 3.5 touchdowns!
