Ecuador Jamaica betting tip
The second matchday in Group B of the Copa America 2024 is coming up and Ecuador will face Jamaica.
Neither nation has picked up any points to start this tournament. So the pressure on both is already relatively high.
La Tri were outnumbered early on in a wild game against Venezuela. And although they still took the lead, they were unable to defend it in the end
The Reggae Boyz went into the Copa America as clear underdogs anyway. But despite the narrow defeat against Mexico, nothing is lost yet.
However, they are still waiting for both their first point and their first goal in a South American championship. Will they succeed now?
My Ecuador Jamaica betting tip is in line with the Betano bookmakers and basically assumes a low-scoring game
The prediction of the bookmakers?
If we just look at the players on both sides, it quickly becomes clear who is the favorite and why.
With Caicedo, Hincapie & Co., La Tri clearly has the better individual players. This is reflected in the three-way betting predictions.
However, a start-to-finish victory is not expected. In the half-time bets for the Ecuador Jamaica betting tip, you will find odds of around 3.50 at Oddset Sportwetten if the favorite wins both halves
Analysis: Ecuador vs Jamaica
Coach Félix Sánchez’s men struggled against Venezuela. Center forward Enner Valencia was shown the red card early on after an unfortunate foul.
Nevertheless, they dominated the game for a long time and only lost the thread a little in the course of the second half.
In total, they have now lost three of their last five international matches (2S).
The Reggae Boyz were actually in good form in the weeks leading up to the tournament. There were two wins in the World Cup qualifiers in June.
Before that, they drew against the USA in the Nations League in regular time in March. They also won against Panama (1:0)
Offside analysis
Offensively, however, there are still some question marks for the Jamaicans. They failed to score at both the 2015 and 2016 Copa America.
It is highly unlikely that they will finally score at the eighth attempt if we look at the Ecuador Jamaica odds in advance. These are in the region of 1.80 if the Reggae Boyz score at least once.
Things look a little different for La Tri. I believe they can make a lightning start. Whenever they have scored in the last eight games, it has happened at least once before the break.
If they score again in the first half, Betway offers odds of around 1.60.
Can Ecuador turn things around?
Under Félix Sánchez, the coach who was in charge of the Qatari national team at the last World Cup, things actually went quite well.
In the five matches before the start of the tournament, the only defeats were against the heavyweights from Argentina and Italy.
Otherwise, the offense in particular was a bank. With a good mix of young and old, Enner Valencia and top talent Kendry Paez, at least two goals were scored in three of the five matches.
However, La Tri now have their backs to the wall, having lost a competitive game for the first time since September 2023. They now urgently need a win before facing Mexico on the final matchday
Just reggae or ball magic too?
The Copa America has already shown how big the differences are between the CONMEBOL and CONCACAF nations.
The teams from South America are much more powerful in tackles and also have more individual class in their ranks.
Jamaica have already struggled in the last two Copas. Now, after the opener against Mexico, where they made little headway, they face a South American team again for the first time.
So far, the tournament has not been a success for the Reggae Boyz. Coach Heimir Hallgrímsson still needs to work on the rhythm of the offense
The two nations will now face each other for the first time in the Copa America. In fact, it will be the first competitive match against each other.
As far as friendly matches are concerned, the pendulum has almost always swung in favor of the South Americans. They have won twice (1U)
However, it is highly doubtful that it will be as high-scoring a spectacle as in September 2011, when La Tri won 5:2.
The tournament has been intense so far, and the fans in the stands have also provided some highlights. But some teams have lacked the drive to go forward
My tip:
My prediction is along the same lines. As we saw at EURO 2024, games on the second day of group matches are always something special.
Now it’s no longer a case of feeling things out and trying things out. For both teams, it’s all about keeping the dream of reaching the quarter-finals alive. I see the Sánchez team as having the advantage.
My Ecuador Jamaica tip is therefore: La Tri won’t lose and less than 2.5 goals will be scored
