Ecuador Venezuela betting tip
While the 2024 European Championship is now in the hot phase and approaching the end of the preliminary round, the Copa America is starting these days.
La Tri and Vinotinto face each other in Santa Clara on Sunday night. It is already likely to be a crucial match in Group B.
With Mexico, who currently have a minor shake-up in their squad, and Jamaica, who are considered the underdogs, the chances of both teams reaching the quarter-finals are good
The Ecuadorians will certainly have their work cut out for them. They reached the quarter-finals in the previous edition of the tournament.
It was a completely different story three years ago for coach Fernando Batista’s team. They have failed to win any of their last five Copa America matches (3U, 2N).
Therefore, my Ecuador Venezuela betting tip predicts a slight advantage for the tricolor team. However, there could also be a few goals on show.
The prediction of the bookmakers?
When we look at the odds for your Ecuador Venezuela betting tip, we immediately find a clear distribution of roles.
La Tri goes into this match as the favorite. This even encourages the bookmakers to assume a start-to-finish victory. If the Sanchez team wins both halves, the odds are around 2.80.
Analysis: Ecuador vs Venezuela
And why not? The Ecuadorians have every reason to aim for group victory here. They have won six of their last ten games (2U, 2N).
These two defeats came against heavyweights Italy and Argentina. A record that gives them hope of finally winning the Copa America again.
La Tri have not won in nine Copa games (4U, 5N). And that despite reaching the quarter-finals in 2021
The Vinotinto could only dream of reaching the quarter-finals last time, although four of the five teams in the two groups progressed.
They ended up dropping out with just two points. However, it should be noted that they had to deal with coronavirus absences at short notice and played with a better C eleven.
Otherwise, things actually went quite smoothly for the Venezuelans at the Copa America. They have reached the knockout round in four out of six matches
Analysis of odds
If we look at the long-term betting odds for Vinotinto to progress, you’ll find odds of around 2.70 at Betano Sportwetten. A lot will depend on the opening game.
The Batista team’s offense could be problematic. They have failed to score in four of their last five Copa matches.
Bookmakers such as Winamax do not rule out the possibility of another clean sheet. The Ecuador Venezuela odds for this are around 2.00.
Whether it will be a high-scoring game remains to be seen. At the same time, however, at least three goals have been scored in eight of the last eleven Copa America matches involving the Ecuadorians.
This also explains the rather high odds of around 2.30, as with Bwin’s betting providers, for a match with over 2.5 goals
Ecuador: Stability with Félix Sánchez?
Things are already going very well in qualifying. With eight points, La Tri are right on target in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. They are even ahead of Brazil!
However, the fact that the team is not in an even more commanding position is due to the three points they have conceded. Defensively, they have only conceded three goals in six games.
In general, they have gained a new stability in defense under Félix Sánchez. They have kept a clean sheet in four of their last eight international matches.
Things are going well going forward. Ecuador scored two or more goals against Bolivia and Honduras
Can Venezuela get back on track?
What applies to the Ecuadorians in World Cup qualifying must apply even more to the Vinotinto. After all, they have one more point in their account.
The 3-0 win over Chile was probably the most important. They claimed this convincing victory in October 2023, in which Yeferson Soteldo excelled.
Since then, however, they have not won a single match. In five games, they have drawn three and lost two, scoring just two meagre goals.
And they’ve actually been waiting two games to score against La Tri. They failed to score in their two World Cup qualifiers in 2021 and 2023.
In general, it has to be said that Vinotinto have often struggled against the small mountainous country on the west coast of South America since the 2010s.
Of the last ten head-to-head meetings, Venezuela have won just one (5U, 4N). Nevertheless, they drew 2-2 in 2021, scoring shortly before the end.
But as we all know, tournament openers always have their own charm. Ecuador have not won a Copa America since 1993 (3U, 8N). Their last win was against – that’s right – Venezuela!
My tip:
So everything should be set for a lively opening match in this Group B of the Copa America 2024.
Neither side will set off any fireworks, but I have every confidence that they can get forward. Due to the individual class of Caicedo & Co. I see La Tri as having a slight advantage.
My Ecuador Venezuela tip is therefore: Double chance 1X & Over 1.5 goals!
