Elversberg – Leverkusen Tip Bundesliga, Matchday 1 on Saturday, 29/08/2026 at 15:30 CET
At the start of the new Bundesliga season, a duel of opposites awaits us in Saturday’s conference. The newly promoted team from Saarland host the ambitious Werkself. My Elversberg Leverkusen tip is aimed at a high-scoring game in which the guests play out their offensive power.
I’m counting on Leverkusen to score in both halves. The Werkself’s attack was impressive last season – now they will want to put the pressure on from the start.
My Elversberg Leverkusen prediction is based on the obvious differences in quality. B04 averaged 2.0 goals per game last season and had the third-best xG value in the league. The newly promoted team will therefore have a hard time taming this power over 90 minutes.
This encounter is mainly known as a result of the cup sensation of 2022. On Saturday, it will take place for the first time in the highest German league. A historic moment for the newly promoted team, who want to prove themselves in their own living room.
For the history books, Elversberg vs. Leverkusen is interesting in that it is the 982nd different pairing in the history of the Bundesliga. So it’s not only a special game for the two clubs, but also for the league statisticians.
By the way: Elversberg is not the only one who is likely to be nervous. The visitors from Leverkusen also start the season with a new coach. However, there is apparently little indication that Carles Martínez will make a false start.
Elversberg – Leverkusen Prediction & Betting
Did you want to hear a few alternatives to my Elversberg Leverkusen tip above? The bet Over 2.5 goals & both to score at odds of 1.80 also has its appeal. In 22 of B04’s 34 games from the previous season, both teams scored, which corresponds to a strong rate of 65%.
For those who are willing to take risks, on the other hand, the Elversberg Leverkusen odds on a multiple goal scorer could be interesting. Patrik Schick has already proven that he can score twice against SVE. A bet on Schick to score more than 1.5 times attracts with a high odd of 5.10.

Elversberg – Leverkusen: AI Tip & Odds Analysis
Our football prediction data model has analysed SVE’s debut match in the Bundesliga and provides a clear trend. Artificial intelligence sees the guests as the clear favorite, which reflects the assessments of most experts and also my personal opinion.
The calculated probability of victory for Leverkusen is a strong 60.3%. Only 20.4% are estimated for a home win for the promoted team, while a draw has a probability of 19.3%.
The forecast is also clear when it comes to goals. The model expects a total of 3.25 hits. Of this, 2.11 is expected to be attributable to Leverkusen and 1.14 to Elversberg. That speaks for an entertaining and high-scoring encounter.
Predicted chance of winning:
| Victory Elversberg |
Draw |
Victory Leverkusen |
| 20.4% |
19.3% |
60.3% |
This projection supports the bet on Over 3.5 goals, for which there are currently odds of 2.18. If both teams use their chances efficiently, four or more goals are absolutely within the realm of possibility, as the high xG value suggests.
Likewise, the bet Leverkusen over 2.5 goals at odds of 2.45 is supported by the data. The Werkself have already broken this mark in the two previous meetings with Elversberg and are in an excellent position in attack.
After all, the bet on goal(s) in both halves also fits into the picture. Leverkusen is known for its lightning starts, while Elversberg often only becomes dangerous in the closing stages. An odd of 1.50 on this bet therefore seems very solid.
The best odds for Elversberg vs. Leverkusen
A look at their own betting app and thus at the Elversberg Leverkusen betting odds confirms the clear favorite role of the guests. The odds for an away win for the Werkself are around 1.57 on average, which suggests that the market has high expectations.
Elversberg, on the other hand, goes into the game as a clear outsider. The Saarlanders are considered one of the main candidates for relegation anyway, but will give everything in front of their home crowd.
A draw is not ruled out, but the data tend to speak against it. However, Leverkusen had already struggled against supposedly weaker opponents such as Hamburg (1-1) or Augsburg (1-2) in the previous season, when the odds had been similar.
Despite the combative attitude of the promoted team and the euphoric home crowd, Bayer Leverkusen’s superior quality prevailed in the end. Anything other than a victory for the guests at the start of the season would border on a sensation.
Elversberg vs Leverkusen Match Analysis:
The promotion of the Elversberg team has been in the making for a long time, but the declared goal can only be to stay in the league. An opening win would give the team a lot of self-confidence for the difficult tasks ahead, such as the important away game in Gladbach on Matchday 2.
Leverkusen, on the other hand, have an impressive record against promoted teams and have not lost for a long time. A bankruptcy in Saarland after a successful pre-season would be tantamount to a real “momentum killer” and would spoil the start of the season.
On paper, however, there is no reason for the Werkself to worry. The squad is much better staffed in almost all positions. Under the new coach, the team wants to show from the first minute that they are a force to be reckoned with.
The danger of an early goal is real for Elversberg. In the last friendly against Newcastle, Leverkusen scored within the first minute, and the lead in the cup also fell early. The hosts must therefore be wide awake from the start and be defensively stable.
In fact, no team was more dangerous than Leverkusen at the start of last season. The Werkself scored the most goals in the league in the opening quarter of an hour (11). An early goal by the guests therefore seems very likely.
But even if they are behind, Elversberg should not be underestimated. SVE was the second division team with the most goals in the final phase last season (20 goals from the 76th minute). So they are always good for a late speed increase.
Elversberg Form Check
Elversberg survived the first round of the DFB Cup with a 3-1 win against Duisburg. However, the success was hard-earned, and the third-division team certainly had its chances. So it was not a sovereign performance by the promoted team.
In order to make the goal of staying in the league a reality, the club has invested a lot of money by its standards. They mainly relied on young loan players such as Noel Futkeu or Francis Onyeka, who would hardly have had a chance of starting at their parent clubs.
It remains to be seen whether this strategy will work. The squad value of only 59 million euros is less than half that of all the teams that avoided relegation last season. So the qualitative difference to the competition is enormous.
The squad lacks Bundesliga experience. The absence of Tom Zimmerschied is all the more painful. The midfield strategist is suffering from a back injury and is missing as a creative mind in the Saarlanders’ game.
In addition, the new signing Luis Seifert, who was planned for central defence, is missing. Coach Vincent Wagner will therefore probably have to rely on a back four with Rohr and Pinckert in the centre, which poses a challenge for the defence.
Leverkusen form check
Leverkusen made a strong impression in the first round of the cup. In the 4-0 win against Wiesbaden, the Werkself gave their opponents no chance and were ice-cold in front of goal. So the form already seems to be right.
The duel against Elversberg is a classic David versus Goliath scenario. Leverkusen’s squad value is higher at a ratio of 10:1. This financial and qualitative difference should be clearly noticeable on the pitch.
In the summer, the left side of the defence was completely renewed. Grimaldo was replaced by Moreira and Gutierrez. Qualitatively, this seems to be a good replacement, but the newcomers still have to fit into the demanding system.
In terms of personnel, Leverkusen can draw on a full squad on Saturday. No important key player is injured. The only notable absentee is Montrell Culbreath, who was only a supplementary player last season anyway.
Compared to the cup game, changes in the offensive are to be expected. Ibrahim Maza could move to the number ten position, while Nathan Tella is an option for the starting eleven instead of Malik Tillman. So the coach has many options.
