Jupiler Pro League, Champions’ Playoff Matchday 10, Sunday, 26.05.2024
The Jupiler Pro League follows the most complicated league system in Europe. But this competition also crosses the finish line next weekend and Club Brugge smells of the winner’s trophy.
However, I’m not placing my Brugge Cercle Brugge betting tip on a win, instead opting for a match combination. With this Betano betting bonus, I’m going for odds of 1.87 for “Both teams to score & Over 2.5 goals”
Whether betting provider without taxes or not, the bookmakers see Club Brugge as the clear favorite in their own stadium with odds of up to 1.57 to win.
A win for the home side would mean a long night of celebrations for interim coach Nicky Hayen and his players.
During the regular season, the two teams were separated by just four points. After nine play-off games in the Championship group, the two teams from Bruges are now 13 points apart.
This development is one of the reasons why bookmakers are offering Cercle Brugge odds of up to 5.60 in their sports betting apps
The Champions’ Playoffs in the Jupiler Pro League contain ten matches. The teams have played nine games so far, of which Cercle Brugge have only won three.
Despite this record, the Groen-Zwarten are not without danger. Miron Muslic’s team boasts the best attacker this season. Kévin Denkey has scored 27 goals this season, almost half (47%) of his team’s total.
A goal from the top scorer should always be factored in and is available at the betting desk at Bet365 with odds of 3.00.
The two Bruges teams met on the first matchday of the Champions’ playoffs. They went toe-to-toe and drew 1-1 after goals from, of course, Denkey and Andres Skov Olsen.
Overall, however, the hosts have the much better squad at their disposal. The Blauw-Zwarten have the best attack in the Jupiler Pro League with 83 goals and the best defense in the Belgian league with 35 goals conceded.
Nicky Hayen’s team literally raced through the Champions’ Playoffs, winning seven out of nine games (2 draws) and quite rightly shooting themselves to the top of the table with a 21:6 scoreline
Club Brugge’s goal difference (+15) is by far the best in the Champions’ Playoffs. Union Saint-Gilloise (3) had the second-best goal difference. Cercle Brugge stands at plus-minus-zero (13:13).
With a free bet, I even consider a “Bruges win (HC -1)” to be playable. Interwetten shines here with the best available odds of 2.35.
To strengthen this assumption, I refer to the expected goals of the home side, which are unsurpassed in the league (77.7 xG).
Cercle Brugge have only scored 63.8 expected goals so far. The gap between the visitors and the fourth-best team (Ghent: 71.4 xG) is widening.
Muslic’s team is even weaker in the league comparison of expected goals conceded (58.0 xGA). Here, the league leaders once again have the best value in the Jupiler Pro League (36.8 xGA).
A “Bruges win” in combination with “Both teams score” is probably also a promising match combination, which has found its home in the odds region of 2.75 and higher.
I think a defeat for the home side is unrealistic, as their performances in the Champions’ playoffs were too stable for that.
In my opinion, however, they won’t go through without conceding a goal. Cercle Brugge have scored at least one goal in seven of their nine play-off games
In addition, Nicky Hayen only wrinkled his nose in the last home game against Union SG (2:2) after conceding two goals.
However, the danger exuded by the league leaders in attack was strong enough to prevent a defeat. Club Brugge scored at least two goals in seven of their nine matches in the regular season
If we add two goals from the home side and an obligatory goal celebration from Kévin Dentey, we end up with a completely surprising “over 2.5 goals” in the match.
Seven of the nine previous playoff games between the Blauw-Zwarten have been whistled with “Over 2.5 goals” in the match.
The bookmakers are on their guard here and are only handing out less affordable odds of under 1.60, which makes this bet seem rather useless
A point is enough for Club Brugge to celebrate the championship, but the league leaders would certainly prefer a commanding home win.
In my opinion, however, the Blue-Warriors need at least two goals to achieve this, as they have the best goalscorer of the season at the other end of the pitch.
In other words, my Bruges Cercle Bruges betting tip is: Both teams score & Over 2.5 goals in the match
