Maximilian Eggestein will remain at SC Freiburg. The 29-year-old has extended his contract with the sports club, but as usual, the Bundesliga club did not name a term. Since his move from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2021, Eggestein has made 218 competitive appearances for Freiburg, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists. Last season, he was the perennial favourite in coach Julian Schuster’s team with 53 appearances. “Maxi is an essential anchor of our team,” Freiburg board member Jochen Saier praises the midfielder.
