In keeping with the 2nd matchday of the Bundesliga, I provide you with an exciting Gladbach Elversberg tip. The Foals got off to a false start with a 3-0 defeat in Leipzig, while the newly promoted side were able to celebrate their successful debut!
For this duel of opposites, I have opted for a goal bet at odds of 2.37. To be more precise, I’m betting on over 3.5 goals to be scored in the game – and not without reason!
Elversberg have already impressively demonstrated their offensive power and counter-attacking strength against Leverkusen. Gladbach’s defence, on the other hand, looked extremely vulnerable and scratched a defensive xGA value of an astronomical 4.00.
There is already a certain tension in the Lower Rhine after the first matchday. The fear of another season in the relegation battle is palpable. A home win against the newcomers is therefore firmly planned, which increases the pressure on the team enormously.

Elversberg scored in nine of the last eleven competitive games, while Gladbach earned an xG value of over 1.00 despite the defeat in Leipzig and thus would have deserved at least the honorary goal!
Furthermore, Elversberg has only lost three away games in the calendar year 2026 and is brimming with self-confidence! A bet on the Double Chance X2 option at odds of 1.98 therefore seems to be an alternative worth considering.
In fact, I would even go a step further and consider Draw-no-Bet: Elversberg at 2.85. The risk-return ratio justifies this betting maneuver in any case!

Personally, I find the options I have in mind and just discussed: Double Chance X2 – or for the braver among you Draw No Bet – much more interesting!
Because if the Saarlanders have already been able to surprisingly beat a much stronger club like Leverkusen with even higher odds, I see no reason why they couldn’t cause a stir again against Gladbach!

As already indicated, the betting markets clearly position Borussia Mönchengladbach as favourites in this home game. The odds for the Foals to win are around 1.85 on average, which suggests an implied probability of victory of over 50%.
However, this assessment seems daring. Gladbach’s performance in Leipzig was desolate defensively and unlucky offensively. The enormous pressure of having to win at home against a promoted team could further paralyze the team and force them to make mistakes.
In contrast, the odds for an away win for Elversberg are around 4.00. In view of their fearless performance against Leverkusen and their enormous self-confidence, this rate is definitely worth considering.
They have proven that they can beat any opponent. A draw is therefore also a realistic scenario. Gladbach only won six of 17 home games last season anyway and didn’t make a particularly stable impression on me recently!
Gladbach vs Elversberg Match Analysis:
Elversberg’s victory at the start was historic. For the first time in eleven years, a Bundesliga newcomer was able to win his first game, the last time FC Ingolstadt managed to do so was in 2015. This shows how special this performance is to be assessed.
There is hardly a direct duel as a reference. The only competitive match took place in the DFB Cup in 2020/21, when Gladbach won 5-0. At that time, however, SVE was still a regional league team and played with a man down from the 31st minute, which greatly reduces the significance.
The Saarlanders are currently in much better shape compared to 11 years ago! The 3-1 cup win in Duisburg was followed by a 3-2 win against Leverkusen. The offense works, which is why goals are very likely against the insecure Gladbach defense.
I expect Gladbach to want and have to control the game. However, this should play into Elversberg’s hands. Their young, fast and vertically oriented team is predestined for an effective counter-attacking game.
The narrative of Gladbach’s home strength is deceptive. In the 2025/26 season, they won just four of the first 15 home games. This statistic should be warning enough not to overestimate the role of favorites.
Elversberg had the best attack in the 2nd Bundesliga last season and was always good for goals away from home. Therefore, you shouldn’t assume that they will take on a purely extra role at Borussia-Park.
Gladbach form check
Borussia is under massive pressure. Another defeat, especially at home against a promoted team, would immediately sink the mood in the Lower Rhine and put coach Polanski under criticism.
This high expectation in combination with a home game against a self-confident and carefree opponent can be a toxic mixture. The danger that the team will tense up is great.
The home record of the 2025/26 season with only six wins from 17 games underlines that Borussia-Park has not been an impregnable fortress for some time. Elversberg could exploit this weakness.
Although the last-minute transfer of Nicolas Kühn has provided some hope, the main problems are clearly in the defence. The departure of stabiliser Nico Elvedi weighs heavily and has not yet been compensated.
Against RB Leipzig, the defence allowed an expected goals against value (xGA) of almost 4.00. Only goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas prevented an even higher defeat with several brilliant saves. This is an alarming sign.
In the current condition, I see Gladbach as a candidate for the relegation fight and a bankruptcy against SVE. Their defensive instability is glaring, and without rapid stabilisation, a very turbulent season threatens in the Lower Rhine.
Elversberg Form Check
The development of SV Elversberg is phenomenal. Since the 2021/22 season in the Regionalliga Südwest, three promotions in a row have been achieved. The club has always remained true to its offensive and courageous playing philosophy.
Even the departures of guarantors of success such as coach Horst Steffen were compensated for by a clear club philosophy and excellent transfers. The club proves that sustainable work bears fruit.
With talents like Futkeu, Onyeka, Darwich or Campbell, SVE has players in its ranks who can hurt any opponent on a good day. The potential for surprises is definitely there in this squad.
Everyone is talking about Elversberg, and yet surprisingly high odds are offered on the Wagner eleven. Given the circumstances, a point or even a win wouldn’t be a big surprise for me.
The big question will be whether the Saarlanders will succeed in delivering their performances consistently over a whole season. The start was promising, but the Bundesliga is a marathon, not a sprint.
The self-confidence is at the boiling point after the win against Leverkusen. I expect a fearless and carefree performance by SVE on the Lower Rhine, who will act with a lot of enthusiasm.
