Ko Itakura is one of Gladbach’s central figures. The Japanese player has not missed a minute this season (kicker grade 3.50). The 27-year-old still has a contract with Gladbach until 2026, which sports director Roland Virkus would like to see extended early. Itakura is aware of this and is comfortable at Borussia-Park, but has been aware of the interest from other clubs (Naples, Eindhoven) since last summer. A possible contract extension certainly depends on the financial aspect, otherwise a separation after the season would be on the cards to generate a transfer fee.
