Conference League League Phase, Matchday 6, Thursday, 19.12.2024 at 21:00
Please let this first half of the 2024 season come to an end, and quickly! For 1. FC Heidenheim, it now only brings defeats, and there is hardly any good news in our Conference League tips either. Can I give the fans new hope in my Heidenheim St. Gallen betting tip?
The group final of the UCL is important for both, because it’s about (direct) progression. So I’ll tell you why I have a lot of criticism for the defensive lines and why I’m going for a classic “both teams score”!
In Heidenheim, an icy winter is looming – even though the temperatures aren’t that low yet! The magic of the promoted team that made it straight into the European Cup is over.
FCH have lost eight of their last nine games in Bundesliga 1, are deep in the relegation battle and are unable to make a mark either offensively or defensively. Before the last Bundesliga match of the first half of the season, Europe is still calling
Heidenheim had actually started very well in the Conference League, but the team only started to slide late on. One thing is clear: they will definitely not be eliminated early, as they already have too many points to show for it.
Direct progression is still possible, the current gap is just one point – but there are still six teams ahead of the Bundesliga club.

2:1 against Olimpija Ljubljana, 1:0 against Pafos, 2:0 against Hearts, the first nine points were quickly collected. The 2-0 defeat against Chelsea a little later was absolutely justifiable.
Last week, they then hosted Basaksehir, a previously winless club in international competition. The result from a German perspective: 1:3, the crisis has now finally arrived in Europe.
While they had never conceded a goal in the first half in their first four games, not even against Chelsea, the score in Istanbul was already 0:2 at the break. I can’t deny Frank Schmidt’s team any passion.
16 shots in the direction of the opponent’s box, somehow it just wasn’t meant to be. How did it go against VfB Stuttgart last Sunday? Different, because not even 290 passes were played and there was less than 35% possession
No matter how I look at it, FCH are in a very difficult situation. So they’re not exactly confident ahead of their first clash with a club from Switzerland, but at least the team will start without pressure on Thursday.
They can even be pleased that our tax-free betting providers are still full of confidence, as they have Heidenheim clearly favored with average odds of 1.50 to 5.00.
Well, that could also have something to do with the fact that St. Gallen regularly go down in the Conference League. The Green-Whites are on four points and thus below the line; only a win in the event of mistakes by some of their rivals will lift them into the knockout round.
They got off to the worst possible start in the international competition with a 6-2 defeat to Cercle Brugge, and the 4-2 loss to Fiorentina was not much better. Towards the middle of the group stage, there was at least a brief revival:
2:1 against Larne and 2:2 against Topola, four points were scored with great effort. The recent 4-1 defeat to Vitoria Guimaraes put paid to the quiet mood of optimism – the Swiss have now conceded a whopping 17 goals!
They have by far the worst defense of all UCL participants, having conceded at least four goals four times. So it’s no wonder that I’m looking around at Oddset for over bets on the FCH.
If the Swabians score more than 2.5 goals, which has never been the case in the Conference League, odds of 2.40 are waiting for you here. Interesting: If you don’t think the Schmidt team can do that and go for “under 2.5 goals”, which sounds a little more likely given the crisis, the odds are still 1.50.
Will the year 2024 somehow come to a conciliatory end for 1. FC Heidenheim? These are very tough times for the Swabians, and the crisis has now also arrived in the Conference League. After all, they face the weakest defense in the competition on Thursday.
St. Gallen are under enormous pressure, with the threat of an early exit looming. The Green-Whites arrive with 17 goals conceded, so something seems possible for the Bundesliga club’s much-maligned offense.
As the home side are still in with a chance of qualifying directly for the knockout phase, I have decided to put my faith in the following betting classic:
Both teams score!
