In the last six seasons, Hamburger SV have always been favorites for promotion and the league title – and each time they have failed to return to the Bundesliga. After two relegations in a row in the previous season, they finished fourth once again.

Why will HSV be promoted to the Bundesliga this time?
Because after failing six times in a row – and always in the spring – the time is ripe. What’s more, HSV finished in the top three twice during this period, with their dream of returning to the Bundesliga only shattered in the relegation play-offs on both occasions.
In the previous season, however, even the “relegation” was missed, with only 4th place in the end. Not even the change of coach to Steffen Baumgart, who was brought in as a savior, has brought anything.

Six times in a row, HSV have come close to being promoted to the Bundesliga. Each time, the Hanseatic club missed out – sometimes quite bunglingly – during the spring.
