Austrian Bundesliga, Friday, 12.04.2024
LASK and defending champions Red Bull Salzburg face off on Friday evening (7:30pm) to kick off the 26th round of the Austrian Bundesliga.
Both clubs have suffered setbacks recently. However, this does not change the fact that the soccer betting providers see the guests as the favorites.
In my LASK Red Bull Salzburg betting tip, I want to take a closer look at the latest results and explain why I think the visitors will prevail and keep a clean sheet.
At Interwetten, this brings odds of 2.95 and can also be placed with a corresponding Interwetten voucher
Both LASK and Red Bull Salzburg were the losers of the week in Austria. While five out of six matches in the top flight ended in draws, LASK lost 1-0 at Sturm Graz and were the only team to remain without points.
As a result, the Upper Austrians dropped out of the top three in the table for the first time in months and now only occupy fourth place behind Rapid Vienna.
Due to this development, the Linz club management pulled the ripcord on Wednesday and parted ways with coach Thomas Sageder. The current assistant coach Maxmilian Ritscher will be in charge of the team until the end of the season
For Salzburg, on the other hand, the draw at home against Rapid meant that their lead over Sturm Graz has shrunk to three points. The title fight thus remains exciting.
But the loss of points against Rapid was not the only setback that the team under coach Gerhard Struber had to accept this week. A few days earlier, the Bulls also lost the ÃFB Cup semi-final at home to Sturm Graz 3:4 and missed out on a place in the final
This means that Red Bull’s almost two-decade dominance in Austrian soccer is crumbling somewhat. After all, Salzburg have won 18 of the last 20 championship and cup titles. However, they have now missed out on the cup final for the second time in a row.
The competition therefore senses an opportunity and is looking to take advantage of the serial champions’ possibly only temporary phase of weakness.
LASK had already sensed this opportunity a few years ago and took the fall championship title. But then came corona and the cards were reshuffled. In the end, it was Salzburg who cheered again
However, Linz are currently a long way off their former quality. Although the Upper Austrians remained at the top of the table for a long time this season, they have not been particularly convincing of late.
For the most part, LASK’s offering has been extremely minimalist. Three of the Upper Austrians’ last seven league games ended goalless. Only one goal was scored in each of the other four games. As a result, Linz have only scored a meagre 27 goals in their 25 games so far this season
This almost invites you to bet on a 0:0 or 1:0 in the upcoming match against Red Bull Salzburg. The odds for this would be very attractive.
In the Interwetten app, a goalless game is offered with odds of 13.0. The same odds are offered for a 1:0 win for LASK. A 1-0 win for Salzburg is still available at 7.25.
However, I would tend towards the latter option. If only because Salzburg are the only team still undefeated away from home this season.
They have eight wins and four draws. The two defeats so far have both been at home. One of them also against LASK with a 0:1 defeat
On the other hand, LASK have not scored in their last four league home games against the Bulls.
It remains to be seen whether Linz’s style of play will change under new management.
The last direct duel between LASK and Red Bull also resulted in a 1-0 away win for Salzburg at the beginning of March
This shows that the champions are often content with the bare minimum this season. Struber’s side also won their last away game against Sturm Graz 1:0 and have only conceded seven goals away from home this season.
They are unlikely to concede too many against the offensively weak LASK. After the recent setbacks, however, the champions will not want to drop any more points.
My LASK Red Bull Salzburg tip is therefore: The visitors will win without conceding a goal
