The promotion battle in the Championship is approaching the final. Leicester City have the best cards at the top. The 2016 English champions are aiming for direct promotion. Three games remain for the Foxes.
Overall, it is a four-way battle between Leicester, Ipswich Town, Leeds and Southampton, with the top two places, which allow direct promotion without play-offs, being particularly coveted. In my Leicester Southampton betting tip, I expect a bold performance from the visitors and lots of goals in general. For the goal of both teams and over 2.5 goals in total, a 1.72 is waiting at Betway.
All the top teams in the Championship are currently stumbling. Of the top three teams, only Leicester have managed to win one of their last three games. As a result, Southampton have been able to pull away once again.
Can the club still move into a direct promotion place? Given the small gap, that is definitely still the goal. Southampton can definitely take a risk, as the team is guaranteed fourth place.
At the same time, Leicester want to keep their rivals at bay and extend their lead. The best bookmakers have goals on the board for the clash between first and fourth. Over 2.5 goals are available at 1.50 odds, the stake is only doubled for over 3.5 goals (2.20).

A suitable alternative is the bet “3-6 goals in the match”, especially for sports fans who could imagine a resounding victory at zero. In my opinion, however, it is very likely that both boxes will be filled.
Southampton have the best offense in the league, only Ipswich Town have scored as many goals, 85 in 43 games. But Leicester’s mark of 81 goals is also impressive. The Foxes have made the key difference in defense.
With 39 goals conceded, City conceded 17 fewer goals than Southampton. Both teams averaged around three goals per match, which is respectable!
In the 1X2 market, Leicester are ahead at 2.05, followed by 3.10 for the away win and the draw bet is at 3.75.
However, I definitely can’t make up my mind in this match, Leicester have been a bit more stable over the season, Southampton on the other hand have taken three wins from their last four matches, showing a strong final spurt.
If I had to choose, I’d probably go for the “Double Chance X2”. That would cover two outcomes at respectable 1.72 odds. However, a goal bet is the better choice in my eyes.
After two defeats against Millwall and Playmouth (both 0:1), Leicester recently recorded a 2:1 victory against West Brom, their third home win in a row. The league leaders have won 16 of 21 games at the King Power Stadium. There was only one draw, so it’s better to take the “Double Chance 12” at 1.28?
Southampton also recorded three successive home wins against Coventry (2:1), Watford (3:2) and Preston (3:0), while the away game against Cardiff, which ended 2:1 for the hosts, was unfortunate in view of the course of the match.
Southampton score significantly fewer goals away from home (31) than at home (54). However, given the starting position in the table, I’m not dissuaded from the goal tip. After all, Southampton will take the risk to score three goals

Conclusion: I expect an exciting clash in the duel between the Premier League relegated teams who want to go straight back up. The teams have excellent offenses, but the Foxes have been more stable throughout the season, while Southampton are coming off a strong season finale.
What’s more, Southampton have already secured fourth place and can risk everything in the away game at the King Power Stadium to attack the front once again in order to claim one of the direct promotion places.
However, Leicester will not be hiding either as they look to extend their lead and clinch promotion as early as possible. With two of the top three attacks in the league clashing, I’m going for the following bet.
