Bayer Leverkusen – FC Augsburg betting tip
The Bundesliga offers one more chance, if it doesn’t work, it’s over! On Saturday, all 18 teams will line up for the final matchday – including this one, which simply cannot lose. The myth of Bayer Leverkusen will be put to the test once again.
The Werkself could have the perfect season, even before the DFB Cup and Europa League finals are played. Who should stop the Rhinelanders at the weekend? FC Augsburg of all teams!
Of all teams, because the team from the Fuggerstadt is currently in a crisis and can be happy to have secured relegation early. And it is precisely this team that is now supposed to defeat the invincibles?
Admittedly, nobody can really imagine that. So it’s no wonder that our bookmakers only have one favorite and are giving them average odds of 1.30 to 7.65.
In my Leverkusen Augsburg betting tip, I will now try to unravel the secret of the home side. I’ll also reveal why I agree with the bookmakers and say that Bayer will not only win, but win by at least two goals. You can get the corresponding odds of 1.70 at Happybet.
The prediction of the bookmakers?
A Leverkusen victory? We’ve already seen countless of them this season, and if the next one comes on Saturday, we should be happy with odds of around 1.30 with our bookmakers.
Augsburg have lost four times in a row recently, so the bookies can hardly imagine that Leverkusen, of all teams, will be able to pull it off. Or to put it in figures: an away win at the weekend has odds of 7.65.
A draw in the first leg would almost have been the right result, as the last three matches have been extremely close. Nevertheless, the bookmakers can hardly imagine a draw in the upcoming match, which is why the odds climb to an average of 6.10.
Analysis: Leverkusen vs Augsburg
Everything has already been said about Bayer Leverkusen. The Werkself have long been German champions and will play in the DFB Cup and Europa League finals in the coming weeks.
The team, which had previously only been called “Vizekusen”, showed everyone in 2023/24. 27 wins, six draws, not a single defeat – not even the boldest optimists would have thought that possible
Not only is Bayer unbeaten in the league, but also in the other two competitions. Suddenly every soccer fan in the world knows a Victor Boniface, Alejandro Grimaldo or, of course, Florian Wirtz.
Under Xabi Alonso, there’s nothing that doesn’t exist. Except defeats, of course. With only 23 goals conceded, the Werkself are by far the best defense in Germany, having kept a clean sheet 16 times
Quota analysis
The fact that I’m backing a home win in the 1×2 bets is already mentioned in my main betting tip. As FCA are currently in crisis and Bayer have the best defense of all teams, I’ll go one step further and call for a home win to zero.
Receiving the trophy at home in front of their own fans should be motivation enough for Leverkusen. So I reckon they will want to make it clear early on who has the upper hand and therefore say: Bayer will already be leading at half-time. The odds for this at Betano are 1.70.
The end result? A home win without conceding a goal and by a somewhat clearer margin, so not every result comes into question. My priority is 3:0, which has odds of 11.0 at Bet3000
Can Leverkusen have the perfect season?
27 times at least a brace, and there is absolutely nothing offensively that I could even begin to criticize at this point. The team doesn’t care whether they play at home or away anyway.
Only three home games fell short of 2.5 goals, resulting in an average of 3.44 goals per game. Another major advantage over the entire season was that Bayer had hardly any injuries.
Alonso will be able to draw on a full squad once again on matchday 34 and may even decide to rest one or two players for the DFB Cup final on May 25.
The FCA in free fall
In the first half of the season, Leverkusen came within a whisker of beating FC Augsburg but, as so often this season, scored the winning goal in stoppage time to make it 1-0.
Bayer had previously lost twice in a row to Augsburg, the only two defeats in 27 head-to-head meetings. So FC Augsburg are certainly not an opponent to be feared.
The Fuggerstädter are probably traveling to the Rhine not only to congratulate Bayer Leverkusen on the championship and watch the players lift the trophy at the end
But how are they supposed to beat the invincibles? The FCA can no longer do worse than twelfth place, but that should not hide the fact that things have not been going well for weeks.
They have lost four times in a row, the Bavarian Swabians have never been so bad in 2023/24. 1:3 against Frankfurt, 0:3 against Bremen, 1:5 in Dortmund and 0:1 against Stuttgart, at least FC Augsburg can say to themselves: three of these four defeats were “only” against top teams
Leverkusen unfortunately fall into exactly the same category. They’ve only managed one win against the top six teams in the league, when they took three points at home against Eintracht Frankfurt. How does the team generally do away from home?
Wins in Darmstadt, Heidenheim, Mönchengladbach and Wolfsburg are not exactly names that are on a par with Bayer Leverkusen. FCA have won three times in the entire season, and only once away from home – at the bottom of the table.
The last three away games alone have seen a whopping eleven goals conceded, which is obviously far too many. And now they will also have to do without right-back Kevin Mbabu on Saturday, who has picked up a yellow card
My Leverkusen Augsburg tip:
Bayer Leverkusen have it in their own hands to round off a perfect Bundesliga season. The Werkself simply can’t lose, and they literally demolish most opponents in their own stadium.
How can Augsburg, who have just lost four in a row, keep up with them? In my eyes, it can’t work. The visitors from the Fugger city are in a completely different league, especially defensively, and can’t do much with top teams.
For this reason, I can well imagine that Leverkusen will want to give it another good go in the last game of the season, also in order to stay in rhythm for the two finals. My betting tip is therefore:
Bayer win despite a 0:1 handicap!
