Liverpool – Manchester United betting tip, prediction & odds 05.01.2025

Premier League, Sunday, 05.01.2025 at 17:30

When will Liverpool FC snap, perhaps in the spring? If you’re currently looking at the Premier League championship betting, you can’t come to any other conclusion! The Reds are miles in front, a collapse is not an issue!

Especially in the upcoming home game, nobody is expecting a slip-up, as their opponents are probably in the deepest crisis in decades!

And so a nominally top game has become a David vs Goliath match, for which I will now tell you why I am using a handicap in my Liverpool Manchester United betting tip!

Liverpool vs Manchester United? Sounds like a cracker! Clear leaders against 14th in the table? Suddenly it no longer sounds like a cracker, but a crystal-clear affair!

Liverpool FC are almost running lone circles at the top. The lead is currently “only” six points, but as the Reds still have a catch-up game on their side (and Everton are anything but a top team), it could grow to nine points.

After a very short period of weakness, with two consecutive draws against Newcastle (3:3) and Fulham (2:2), the league leaders quickly got back to business as usual.

6:3 against Tottenham, 3:1 against Leicester and 5:0 against West Ham? Liverpool didn’t like the fact that Spurs had the best offense for a long time – and lo and behold, after this treble success, the best attack is now at home on Anfield Road!

The team now stands at 45, leaving Tottenham behind. And of course, it will come as no surprise to you, Mo Salah deserves a special mention. He has netted 17 times and set up a further 13 goals, a top score!

Especially when you consider that 13 goals and nine assists have been scored in the last eleven games. How will Salah fare against Manchester United? After all, he has already scored 16 times against this club!

His tally of 15 goals and six assists is outstanding, and there has only been one game in the league since 2021 in which Salah has not scored against United. Accordingly, I’m naturally backing a goal bet for the Egyptian.

Betano is relatively certain: Salah will score again on Sunday! The odds are therefore only 1.70. Good to know: In two of the last three home games against the Red Devils, he even scored twice.

In this respect, it might also make sense to bet that he will score more than just one goal. Betano is now spitting out a 3.80 for this. Incidentally, Betano also has a really strong promo code to redeem.

Since Liverpool and Manchester United have already played against each other an incredible 201 times, it is of course worth taking a brief look at the history. Interestingly, three of the last four duels have ended without a winner.

Three defeats from the last 22 games is of course a strong result, although I have to say that there have been ten defeats in that period: There have been ten draws in this period! I would also like to take a special look at the result at Anfield:

One goal conceded from the last nine games? That’s pretty impressive! By the way, a win to zero for the Reds jumps to odds of 2.25 at Interwetten. Well, and so you can probably already imagine what the general odds are:

An average of 1.25 meets 10.2, which Manchester logically has to blame itself for. The Red Devils continue to plummet from week to week, with coach Ruben Amorim even saying it was embarrassing to be United’s coach.

The Devils lost 2-0 to Newcastle, their third defeat in a row. Bournemouth, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Arsenal, the team has been losing almost consistently for weeks, no matter how strong the opponent is.

Manchester have celebrated a measly six wins this season, four of them at home. So others may be strong away from home, because they themselves have a paltry two wins. Eight goals in nine games? The average is not even 1.0!

The general goal average when United play away from home is exactly two goals, which is not particularly high either. It’s faint “praise”, but at least the Red Devils never concede more than two goals away from home

Are we looking at the next English champions? Liverpool FC are achieving an incredible amount at the moment, and the Reds have really stepped up their game in recent weeks, especially offensively.

Something I can’t exactly say about Manchester United. Everything is getting out of hand at the Red Devils, their own players are being ridiculed and the coach himself is talking about an embarrassing job.

In this respect, I have no choice but to pick a heavy favorite. Although many of the last direct duels have been relatively close, I opt for the following tip:

Liverpool will beat United by at least two goals!
