Super League, Sunday, 21.07.2024 at 16:30
On Sunday afternoon, the first matchday of the Swiss Super League will be finalized. The Leuchten and Les Grenats will face each other in one of three matches.
Judging by last season’s results, this should be a duel between two teams on an equal footing. But will it actually be as intense as in previous matches?
In my Luzern Servette Geneva betting tip, you can find out who is the favorite and which bookmakers are offering the most interesting odds
The European Championship has given soccer in Switzerland a new lease of life. The national team played well and finally showed its potential, but without being rewarded with maximum success.
This performance was also evident at club level in recent months, with Young Boys putting in a decent performance in the Champions League.
Away from the big clubs, including Basel, there are also some interesting teams that consistently produce good players for the national team.
Lucerne and Servette Geneva are in a similar vein. Both teams played a good pre-season, including the third-best defense in the Super League
The home side, however, did not have such a good finish to the season. Perhaps with a better points haul, they could have achieved more than just a place in the relegation group.
Of the final eight games of the pre-season, only one was won. The points were shared four times – and the last two games were both lost.
Will it be enough for more this time? After all, the visitors have only won one of their last four games of the season (1U, 2N).
Betting provider Intertops is offering odds of around 1.60 on Luzern Servette Geneva if the hosts do not lose their first game of the season.
I wouldn’t want to commit to a three-way betting prediction here anyway.
One reason for this is, of course, the timing of this game. Much is still unclear at the start of the season, and both sides have put in some good and occasionally poor performances in preparation.
For example, the Leuchten drew 0-0 against VfB Stuttgart. The visitors, for their part, won 1-0 in Monaco, only to lose 2-1 in the final test.
What Les Grenats always did well last season, however, were their performances in the early stages of games. They scored 15 of their 59 goals in the opening quarter of an hour
With regard to the Luzern Servette Geneva betting tip, I don’t think it’s out of the question that the visitors will get off to a lightning start again this time.
Betway Sportwetten has odds of around 1.80 for Geneva to score within the first half.
If the visitors score the first goal of the match (at any time), the odds climb to 2.30.
In the past, matches between the two teams have rarely been clear-cut. There is no clear favorite based on recent history.
The Grenats have won a total of 66 games, compared to just 34 for the Luminaires. However, they have only won four of their last ten meetings (3U).
Three of those four wins came in central Switzerland, all of them by nil. So is it a good idea to bet on the visitors winning to nil once again?
Bookmakers Bet-at-Home have odds of over 4.00. Not ideal conditions, it would seem.
So everything is set for an interesting match. Even though it’s the first matchday, both teams have no time to lose.
As the reigning cup winners, the visitors naturally want to show who is in charge right away. Offensively, however, the home side could also provide some pinpricks.
That’s why my Luzern Servette Geneva betting tip is: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals!
