Ligue 1, Sunday, 05.01.2025 at 20:45
At the start of the season, I placed a long-term bet at astronomical odds that OM would be top of the podium at the end of the 2024/25 season. And I’m actually not ready to write off this bet just yet.
Especially as, according to my Marseille Le Havre tips, the home side will make a successful start to 2025. The “Les Phocéens” are in good shape, while their upcoming opponents recently failed miserably in the domestic cup competition against a fourth division team …
Marseille, also known as OM, have proven this season that the team is still one of the absolute best in Ligue 1, despite some difficulties.
30 points after 15 games is quite something – even though the last few home games have been anything but smooth.
Just one win from their last five home games, plus two draws and two defeats – not exactly what you’d expect from a title contender looking to knock PSG off the throne.
But as you all know, a ten-point deficit to PSG can quickly melt away in a long second half of the season, especially with a coach like Roberto De Zerbi, who has been known to manage his teams very well so far.
However, you would like to see more stability, especially in home games. So far, OM have only had one clean sheet at the Stade Vélodrome. Even the weakest Ligue 1 teams never go down here without a fight!
However, Olympique have proven on several occasions that they can put up a spirited fight and their second place in the table at the winter break is absolutely deserved. It is not uncommon for OM to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 or 3-1 victory.
Le Havre, meanwhile, await on Sunday as a feasible opponent. It almost seems as if now is exactly the right moment to recharge their batteries and finally improve their mixed home record.
Le Havre are struggling as promoted teams and are deep in crisis. With 11 defeats from 15 games, the visitors lead the league’s negative statistics and also face Marseille on Sunday with a current run of six defeats.
It has certainly not escaped your attention that the offense is the biggest problem: The club has only scored 11 goals this season, and in 8 of said 11 defeats they even went down without scoring themselves.
The fact that they recently failed in the Coupe de France – as already mentioned – against Stade Briochin, a fourth division club, reflects the current catastrophic mood in the team and speaks volumes about the current state of affairs.
HAC sporting director Mathieu Bodmer has publicly stated that he will find solutions, but time is of the essence. The 2024 financial year was even described internally as “almost catastrophic”, and this is also reflected in the table.
It’s not just the results that are lacking, but also the ideas to fight their way out of the relegation zone. Against a team like Marseille, which is weak but individually far superior, it will probably be very difficult for Le Havre once again.
Nevertheless, as always: the ball is round and surprises are never out of the question, especially in soccer.

The current Marseille Le Havre odds offer several exciting approaches for your bets.
One scenario that immediately catches the eye, for example, is that Marseille often win, but rarely without conceding a goal. OM have conceded at least one goal in nine of their last twelve victories.
So if you believe that Olympique will triumph again this time despite a shaky defense, the recommendation “OM wins with a goal conceded” is extremely attractive at considerable odds of around 2.92.
For targeted goal bets, on the other hand, Luis Henrique is a good choice. The attacker showed in the Coupe de France against Saint-Étienne how important he currently is for OM’s offense, with a goal and two assists.
The recommendation “Luis Henrique Lima to score” at odds of 2.40 could therefore pay off, especially as he is in top form.
For brave fans of combination bets, both tips together would of course also be worth considering!
So you see: While OM have hopes of winning the title despite their mixed home form, Le Havre are fighting for survival. It will be exciting to see whether Marseille can use the momentum from the break to ring in the new year with a win.
For Le Havre, on the other hand, the hope remains that they can somehow make a statement against this strong opponent of all teams and achieve the seemingly impossible.
However, given their record to date and their miserable performance against Stade Briochin just before Christmas, the promoted side could in truth be fighting a losing battle on Sunday…
My Marseille Le Havre tip: Win OM & over 2.5 goals
