With football in the UK picking up speed in recent days and weeks, the action continues unabated on Saturday afternoon.
The Magpies and the Citizens face each other in the early Saturday game. A duel that is also affectionately known as “El Gasico”.

There was a sense of unease when the Magpies lost for the first time this season last week.
After the 3-1 defeat to Fulham, manager Eddie Howe left no doubt that he was not satisfied with the performance of his charges.
Now the task is to show a better face, but it is an enormously difficult one. That is because the Skyblues are coming to the River Tyne, a team that has only been beaten once in the league since 2005 (5W, 27D).
However, the Magpies have always performed well at home of late. They are now unbeaten in their last ten PL home games (6W, 4D).
The last time a Premier League team won at St. James’ Park was – you guessed it – against the Citizens. In January, they got a 3-2 win.
But I would argue that this victory cannot be easily repeated. After all, the visitors will have to do without Rodri, perhaps their most important player. And for a long time.
The Spaniard was a central component of the current 28 games in which the team remained unbeaten (23W, 5D). However, defensive stability in particular could now be an issue.
Offensively, the Magpies have scored in each of their last 21 league home games. Will it be this time too? For this Newcastle v Manchester City game, Tipwin and other bookmakers are offering odds of just under 1.40 if the hosts score.
However, Pep Guardiola’s team should also be able to score. That’s logical when you have a madman like Erling Haaland in your forward line.
The Skyblues have scored in all of their last 31 matches against the Magpies. They have not had such a long winning streak against any other PL opponent.
In my opinion, it is therefore worthwhile in any case to bet on a game with goals on both sides.
And speaking of goals: there could be quite a few of them on Saturday afternoon. That’s because over 3.5 goals have been scored in each of the last five meetings at St. James’ Park.
What was so nice about these games is that both teams didn’t mess around for long. In each of these five matches, at least two goals were scored before half-time!
If over 1.5 goals are scored in the first half, the odds are just over 2.00. If at least one is scored in both halves, the odds are around 1.50.
However, everything depends on how the Skyblues manage to replace Rodri. It is possible that a certain imbalance in the visitors’ play could be revealed.
For the home side, on the other hand, the series of games without a win over the champions is likely to resonate. It is at least a good omen, though, that the EFL Cup victory over the Skyblues was only a year ago.
