Paphos – Villarreal Tip Champions League, Matchday 4 on Wednesday, 05.11.2025 at 6:45 p.m.
I spotted the Yellow Submarine off the coast of Cyprus – the nickname of FC Villarreal.
My Pafos Villarreal tip leaves open whether it will be a close game in the end, but the hosts will definitely not give up without a fight on Wednesday.
Sports betting providers are significantly underestimating the Champions League debutants in terms of their playing abilities.
On the other hand, treating Villarreal as the clear favorites could prove to be a fallacy – after all, the Spaniards have lost 11 of their last 16 main round games in the premier class and, with one exception, have always conceded goals.
So is Paphos fighting a losing battle here? A look at the history books unfortunately suggests that this is indeed the case. The record between Cypriot and Spanish teams in the Champions League could hardly be more one-sided.
The last meeting between these nations dates back to November 2017, when Real Madrid outclassed APOEL Nicosia 6-0.
Overall, the last six matches between Spanish and Cypriot clubs have all gone to the Iberians, with a goal difference of 22-2.
Nevertheless, this does not mean that my Pafos Villarreal prediction for Wednesday is automatically doomed to failure.
Pafos – Villarreal Prediction & Betting
1. Goal: Pafos was the first idea that came to mind, which I promptly entered into the Interwetten app. I’m very happy with the odds of around 3.15 offered on the mobile app.
The hosts should dominate the early stages of the game – and who knows: if the Spaniards aren’t careful, they could concede early on.
Win one half: Pafos is another promising Pafos Villarreal tip that I found on the Betano app instead, which turns a one euro bet into about three.
Great risk-reward ratio if the Yellow Submarine reveals its usual defensive vulnerability away from home.

- Pafos are winless in their last four European Cup games (2 draws, 2 losses) and failed to score in three of those four games.

Pafos – Villarreal: AI tip & odds analysis
The Pafos Villarreal AI prediction from my digital betting buddy recommends that risk-taking sports betting fans among you who are not afraid of death or the devil should place a 1:1 result bet.
At odds of around 9.25, this is certainly not an unattractive proposition financially, but personally I expect a higher final score – for example, a 2-2 draw or even a sensational 3-2 win for the hosts, who are hopelessly underestimated by many!
Nicolas Pepe to score is currently the player bet with the highest profit potential according to the AI, at odds of around 6.30. And there’s really nothing more to add to that.
FC Villarreal’s offensive power has already created 11 scoring chances for the Spaniards in this Champions League season.
By comparison, only the Real Madrid duo of Kylian Mbappe (16) and Arda Güler (12) have created more chances in the first three matchdays.
A Pafos win with HC +2 at odds of around 1.70 is an interesting concession that my digital betting friend is making to the Cypriots – not a mandatory point gain, but they should keep it close.
The best odds for Pafos vs. Villarreal
The Pafos Villarreal betting odds speak for themselves on the markets. The odds for a home win for the Cypriots are 7.50, which corresponds to a probability of around 12 to 13 percent.
The bookmakers are therefore not expecting any surprises, as the difference in quality seems too great – even though the Spaniards have rarely lived up to their role as favorites in Champions League away games in recent years!
A draw is listed at 5.25, with a probability of around 17 percent. This is only a realistic scenario if Villarreal fails to capitalize on its chances or Pafos exceeds expectations defensively.
Villarreal is the clear favorite with odds of 1.38, which corresponds to an estimated probability of around 72 percent.
The betting markets thus clearly indicate that an away win is expected, while alternative options only seem interesting for risk-taking tips.
Pafos vs. Villarreal match analysis:
Pafos is clearly the underdog going into this game, but they will certainly not be hiding. On the contrary – one could well imagine a surprisingly offensive start from the Cypriots.
Coach Juan Carlos Arcedo usually lets his team play courageously, and that is likely to be the case this time as well.
Of course, Pafos will be challenged defensively for long stretches, similar to their recent home game against Bayern, where they managed to score a goal despite only having 33% possession.
However, the pressure will be less against Villarreal, which should give the hosts more space.
The statistics clearly suggest that Pafos will score again this time. They have scored in each of their last eight European home games, averaging 1.38 goals per game at the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium.
This home strength, coupled with a bold start, could also help them pose a threat against Villarreal.
In the end, the individual class of the Spanish side will probably prevail, but Pafos has nothing to lose.
With a self-sacrificing performance, a lot of running, and quick counterattacks, a consolation goal is absolutely realistic – and maybe the Cypriots will even provide the biggest surprise of the matchday.
Pafos form check
Pafos may not have won a game in the Champions League yet, but their performances so far show that the home side can certainly hold their own.
Two goalless draws against Olympiacos and Kairat Almaty are proof that the defense is solid, even if the offense has lacked punch so far.
However, their last victory in European competition was some time ago – the Cypriots have now gone four games without a win (two draws, two defeats).
In addition, they have had to play several games at neutral venues this season, which does not make the task any easier: at Alphamega Stadium, they have won only one of four games as the nominal hosts.
So, their form is solid but could be improved. Coach Juan Carlos Carcedo will be hoping in particular that his team will be more courageous in attack, as the system is working well defensively.
However, Ivan Sunjic is currently out with an injury – an important factor in midfield, who brings stability with his strength in tackles and calmness on the ball.
Without him, the center looks a little more vulnerable, which could be a problem against individually stronger opponents. Nevertheless, anyone who underestimates Paphos risks a tough game against a team that is difficult to break down.
Villarreal form check
Villarreal is having a strong season domestically, sitting in the top three in La Liga after a clear 4-0 win over Rayo Vallecano – but in the Champions League, things are not going so well.
After three UCL matchdays, the Spaniards are still without a win and have failed to score against both Tottenham and Manchester City (one draw, two defeats).
Although their upcoming opponent is comparatively easier to play against, the squad may not be deep enough to deliver their usual top-class football in several competitions at once.
At least things have been going better away from home recently – three wins from their last four away games in all competitions show that the visitors have found more stability again.
Coach Marcelino has almost a full squad to choose from, as there are no new injury concerns. This continuity should help them finally break their UCL deadlock.
Villarreal has the potential and experience to improve – now they just need one game to flip the switch. They have long been doing this in the league, but the proof is yet to come in Europe.
