It’s that time again, Atletico Madrid meet their favorite opponent! The Colchoneros face Rayo Vallecano in a small derby on Sunday, and I probably don’t even need to tell you that they are favored.
If you want to bet on an away win, you’ll still find profitable odds. However, my betting recommendation in the Rayo Vallecano Atletico Madrid betting tip is based on a combination bet, which is: “Double chance X2” with less than 3.5 goals!
There are fixtures in the Primera Division where it pays off to start with a direct comparison in a betting analysis. Between Rayo Vallecano and Atletico Madrid, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
If there’s one team that Atletico really enjoy playing against, it’s Vallecano. The favorites have been unbeaten for 16 games, winning 13 of them and often by a clear margin and/or zero.
Atletico have gone ten times in this period without conceding a goal, and the 7:0 they scored about a year ago is of course unforgettable. The win was on matchday three, and this time it’s round number six.
Antoine Griezmann is the top scorer in this duel with nine goals, so it’s good that the Frenchman seems to be in great form again this season with two goals and two assists.
You’ll find what you’re looking for in the Betano app if you’re looking for a Griezmann bet. You can secure odds of 2.80, and if the attacker scores to make it 1:0, the value jumps to 5.80. That was exactly the case with the legendary 7:0. The world champion was also involved in both CL goals against Leipzig (2:1).
However, I must also mention that apart from the 7:0, there have been extremely close results in seven out of eight matches. Apparently the bookmakers know this too, because although Atletico are ahead on Sunday, the odds are 1.85.
The Colchoneros have opened the season with two draws and three wins, and after the 2-2 draw against Villarreal to start the season, the defense decided not to concede any more goals from now on.
3:0 against Girona, 0:0 against Espanyol Barcelona, 1:0 against Bilbao and 3:0 against Valencia, it can go on like this. On the road, however, I have to put a damper on the euphoria, and not just because of the 2-2 draw against Villarreal.
The win against Bilbao was only snatched in stoppage time, so Atletico would almost be without a three-pointer on the road. In 2023/24, they won eight matches away from home, but twice as many at home.
Atletico Madrid had never managed to keep four clean sheets in a row in the whole of last season, and the first five games were enough to achieve this feat. Could they even add a sixth?
For the assumption that the Colchoneros will play to nil at the weekend, there are odds of 2.20 at Betano, including the chance of the Betano bonus. Not unrealistic, but the underdogs haven’t started that badly
Two wins, two defeats and a draw, not bad in principle. But: A year ago, they won three of their first five games, then only managed one three-pointer from the following 13 games!
They won against Real Sociedad (2:1) and Osasuna (3:1), while the narrow 2:1 defeats came against the two clubs from Barcelona. Annoyingly, they led both times and conceded the second goal against Espanyol deep into stoppage time.
At the same time, however, they also conceded the 0:1 in the 3:1 against Osasuna, so there is no sign of a real style. They only lost two of their first seven home games in 2023/24, including the 7-0 defeat to Atletico.
Will the team be able to make up for the loss of left-back Alfonso Espino, who will be out for a long time due to a fractured fibula, over the next few months?
Will Atletico Madrid stick to their defensive tactics? The Colchoneros got off to a good start, but not so strong that the competition should be really scared. Rayo Vallecano have been one of my absolute favorite opponents for years.
For this reason alone, I’m backing the “Double Chance X2”, as Atletico were also on the road in the top flight a few days ago. Of course, I also want to note the good defensive work in my betting tip.
Ultimately, I assume that the visitors will score in any case. Due to the low number of goals conceded and the direct comparison, I ultimately provide you with the following tip:
Atletico will not lose by less than 3.5 goals!
