Another slip-up – and before you know it, you’re only third! Real Madrid must now take great care not to fall behind in the title race, as Atletico and Barca have passed them.
On Sunday, they face an opponent at home who is absolutely on a par defensively. That’s why I’m going to tell you in my Real Madrid Rayo Vallecano betting tip why I’m going for “Under 3.5 goals” here.
One win from five games? Too little, far too little! Real Madrid have slipped a little in the title race and just can’t quite get going. After failing to get off the mark against Espanyol (0:1), Atletico (1:1) and Osasuna (1:1), everything seemed to be back on track in the 2:0 win against Girona.

The game against Vallecano takes place between the two Champions League duels against La Liga rivals Atletico! The round of 16 has drawn the two clubs together, with the Whites narrowly winning the first game 2-1.
With ten wins, one draw and the defeat in the Clasico against Barcelona, there is nothing to complain about at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Nine of the ten matches, importantly, had a handicap of at least -1.

If we look at the average odds, 1.28 stands against 10.0. Rayo Vallecano travel to Madrid in seventh place and have already caught the eye of some this season.
On the one hand, because 28 goals is not exactly one of the best values. On the other hand, of course, because they have only conceded 27 goals – only the top four clubs in the league have a better record.
The Franjirrojos did not lose at all between the beginning of December and the beginning of February, but then lost twice. 0:1 against Barca, 0:1 against Villarreal – the subsequent 1:1 against Sevilla means they have now been winless for three games.
This is the fifth time Rayo have gone three matches in a row without a win – but it has never been four in 2024/25! Anyone hoping for spectacular encounters is usually not in the right place with this team.
The average score is 2.1, but away from home it is only 1.5! The 2.5 mark was last broken away from home at the beginning of October, and there have never been more than three goals scored away from home anyway.
I would also like to inform you that Rayo have only conceded ten goals in the first half and have gone into the break with a 0-0 draw in five of their last six matches.
Anyone who says they want to bet on a goalless draw at the Bernabeu on Sunday will be delighted with the odds of 3.45 that Betano have made available to us.
No more mistakes! Real Madrid have let Barcelona and Atletico pass them and are now only third. There are no excuses in the home game against Rayo Vallecano, but how strong are the Whites’ nerves between the Champions League round of 16 games?
Rayo are an unpleasant, defensive-minded opponent, scoring just 1.5 goals on average in away games. Although Real put in strong performances at the Bernabeu and defend well, the current results crisis is undeniable.
All in all, I expect a relatively combative affair and do not believe that the hosts will shoot their opponents out of the stadium. My tip is therefore:
