ATP Masters 1000 in Paris, Semifinals on Saturday, 07.11.26, 17:00
What a thriller on Friday evening! Carlos Alcaraz already had one foot in the plane against Taylor Fritz, but fended off two match points and fought his way into the semi-finals of the Paris Masters for the first time in his career with 6:7, 7:5, 6:3.
Now Casper Ruud is an opponent against whom the Spaniard can boast an almost flawless record. Six of the seven duels so far have gone to Alcaraz, after sets it is even 13:4 for the world number three.
In addition, Ruud had to play until late into the night against Nuno Borges on Friday and didn’t look quite fresh towards the end. A two-set victory for the Spaniard is therefore the most likely scenario for me. My primary Ruud Alcaraz tip is therefore 2:0 Alcaraz.
Ruud vs. Alcaraz AI Predictions:
Our data model spat out a special bet for me for this semi-final, which I took a closer look at: Under 0.5 tie-breaks in the match at 1.47 – i.e. a match completely without a tie-break.
Sure, against Fritz the first set went into overtime. But the American is one of the strongest servers on the tour. Ruud, on the other hand, lives from his consistency on the baseline and not from aces – this is exactly where Alcaraz can regularly put pressure on and force breaks with his return.
If the Norwegian is also not at 100 percent physically, sooner or later the service games will slip through his fingers in the long rallies. I simply lack the imagination for a close 6:6 situation in this duel.
Predicted chance of winning:
| Victory Ruud |
Victory Alcaraz |
| 8.5% |
91.5% |
If you think the Spaniard can have a little slump after the energy-sapping quarterfinals, you should go for 1st set & win: Alcaraz. The odds of about 1.35 at bookmakers like bet-at-home are a bit lower, but this bet also forgives you a set loss in the second round.
Why does that make sense? Alcaraz is in top form: Since his four-month break, he has won 18 of 20 matches and won the title in Vienna last week. If he starts at full speed as usual, it will be extremely difficult for Ruud to turn the match around.
Nevertheless, there is a warning signal: Ruud’s only victory against Alcaraz so far came indoors – at the 2024 ATP Finals 6-1, 7-5. So you shouldn’t write off the Norwegian completely under the hall roof.
What you need to consider when betting on Ruud vs. Alcaraz
- Clear H2H ratios: Alcaraz leads in a direct comparison with 6:1 wins and has won a total of 13 out of 17 sets against the Norwegian.
- Comeback form: Since his four-month forced break, the Spaniard has 18-2 wins – including the tournament victory in Vienna the previous week.
- Ruud’s fitness question mark: The Norwegian finished his quarter-final against Borges (7-6, 6-4) late in the night and seemed to be struggling with knee problems towards the end.
- Historic premiere: For Alcaraz it is the first semi-final at the Masters in Paris – his hunger for the first final in the French capital should be correspondingly great.
