Schalke’s Simon Terodde will end his active career at the end of the 2023/24 season. The 36-year-old announced this to the S04 managers and the team on Ascension Day. Terodde has played for the miners since 2021 and was named captain of Schalke this season. Terodde is currently the record goalscorer in the lower division with 177 goals and was top scorer there four times – another record. In addition to Schalke, he also played for MSV Duisburg, Fortuna Düsseldorf, 1. FC Köln, Union Berlin, VfL Bochum, VfB Stuttgart and Hamburger SV.
