Jonathan Burkardt: The national team is calling!
Word of his performances in Mainz naturally spread throughout much of Germany. Burkardt made his debut for the U15 national team in 2015 and then progressed through all the youth teams.
He won the European Championship title with the U21 team in 2021, scoring ten goals in 20 games for this selection. And finally, in 2024, the jersey with the four stars was waiting for him.
The Mainz native will probably remember October 11, 2024, for the rest of his life, because on that day, in a 2-1 win over Bosnia in the Nations League, he made his debut for Germany.
31 minutes of playing time spread over two games? In the long run, that’s not what he wants from the national team – his big goal is the World Cup in 2026.

Jonathan Burkardt: Salary & Contract in Frankfurt
In the summer of 2025, Jonathan Burkardt transferred from Mainz to Frankfurt. The transfer fee is said to be around 23 million euros. Burkardt’s contract in Frankfurt runs until the end of June 2030.
